Plei, when we went to SF, instead of a hotel we rented an apartment through VRBO, which was fantastic and much more affordable (any hotels that were in the VRBO price range were either murder hotels [really, one review on Yelp said "blood on carpet!"] or by the airport).
This is where we stayed, which would work for you guys, b/c there's a pull-out bed in addition to the bedroom. (Also a hot tub and a bidet.) And it's close to the Zmayhemi: [link]
Hey! Bay Area peeps! I'm trying to plan for our knock-wood-will-happen vacation in July, and while plane tickets are cheap, I'm stymied by lodging.
Where would you guys recommend? I swear, it's more expensive to go to SF than it is to Hawaii...
Tep's suggestion is good. We also recommend the Carl Hotel, where many Buffistas have stayed. It's cheap and clean and no fancy biz, and within a couple blocks of our house.

Tep, sadly, that's not available during our block. Woe! (This is why I am checking things now, natch.)
I'm in the job I want to have until I retire - it's what I'm very good at, and I like both the work and the people I work with. I don't have any ambitions for advancement because I'm not cut out to be an executive, and I'm uncomfortable with managing more than the handful of freelancers/subcontracting firm reps I've supervised on the past few projects. Cost-of-living raises would be nice, but I've made enough use of dental and healthcare benefits the last few years to equal about a 4% raise, and the last couple of annual bonuses have been quite generous.
I'm in the same boat with Matt. I just want this job to last until I retire.
Me three, I could be here till retirement.
Except I'm sure that I went yarn shopping and had tacos on the way home. That's the right answer no matter how it went, yes?
You bet! Congrats on making it through the second round. Do you know when you can expect to learn more?
I'll have an interview some time next week. It's for a job that I already interviewed for once in December, and then the position got put on hold. I guess it's nice that they're still interested. I kinda wish I wasn't still available, but since I am, yay interview #2!
My first job in NYC was a position for which I had been the second choice candidate, but the first choice didn't work out. She worked there for like 6 months, and then they called me back. By that time, I had actually relocated with no job, so it was pretty exciting!
Ah, the day isn't complete until I'm pulled into a last minute meeting that I don't want to be in because generally one can't make a screeching noise while flinging their laptop at someone's head as a distraction in order to flee without unfavorable consequences.
Today I dinged a passenger -- I can rate them 1-5 stars and it's rare that I give them less than a 5 -- because nearly for the entire 20 minute car ride, he either yelled at his mother on the phone or called relatives to complain about her. Not that it will make a big difference that I gave him a 2, but it felt satisfying anyway.
