The fan was only a partial success, in that the part I got at Home Depot isn't quite the same as the one that's actually IN the fan. At least I was able to get the lights wired back up so that they work again, and maybe if I bring the switchy thing with an extra thing on it for comparison, I'll be able to figure out if it is possible to replace it.
I swear to god, the most difficult part of this was the ladder, especially getting it up and down the cellar stairs by myself. Not to mention several trips up and down to identify the actual breaker that turns off the living room lights. (It's the one marked "Kitchen".)
Good try, Theo. about par for the course of a project like that.
So, recs for what kind of plate o'food to send to my stylist's memorial gathering for her partner? She's out near Westminster, so I can look for local businesses that will deliver something fresh on the day. I don't really belong there, but I want to offer my support.
Something people can pick at and have at room temperature, which is why cold cuts are classic, I guess. Or like a muffin basket? That's a nice thing to do.
Mini muffins! Those could be leftover snacks/ breakfasts for her &daughter.
I always lean towards baked goods, since they keep and don't look disgusting when they've been sitting out a few hours.
Googling local bakeries, cause I'd rather support them than a chain. And I can give them sufficient heads up now.
Good plan, sarameg.
That sounds like decent progress, Theo! I myself just impulse bought an outdoor floodlight at Target (I went in for Kleenex and butter but roamed a bit) and immediately installed it when I got home. Upon which point I discovered that there are actually two bulbs in that fixture, but I replaced one and just screwed the other in more firmly and, voila, there is light on the patio!
I hate it when my brain decides I can't sleep. I mean, I usually take a bit falling asleep but there are certain times when as soon as I snuggle down, I can tell my brain just won't fall asleep. Tonight is one of those nights (almost mornings).
Not in the mood to crochet, not in the middle of a good book, and I'm buried under a pile of work - so guess what is about to happen.
I meant to mention this over the weekend: At this health conference I was at, in the context of asking a question from the audience, some guy said: "Everyone has two problems -- mental and dental." Which I thought was hilarious, and people here could relate.
