So my cats are almost 12 years old, good gracious! Ply has started peeing on the carpet. I'm off to the shops to get deodorizing ingredients and a new litter box (it's top-loading currently, maybe it's aching her too much to jump in it? But no, I've seen her hopping out of it. Is she only pooping in it?). But until I get that sorted, her ass is outside, where hopefully she's powdering her nose. I feel so bad, I let Nunya back in, and Ply was on the steps, with this forlorn WTF look on her face.

Aw, poor Ply! Maybe she has a UTI and peeing is painful?

Sheryl, could it be some reaction to something, like a new detergent or new clothes?

Juliebird, you might want to try Feliway it's a cat (well they make dog too) pheremones that can help calm kitties when they are stressed. It really helped my anxiety ridden cats.

Had more things going on at work than I have brain for. I'm going sit here and be a lump.

I just up and over a curb HARD turning into a parking lot, caught the corner. I hope I didn't bend a rim and hope the tire stays inflated. Need to take it in tomorrow. Damn.

Back with new litter box and hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Let poor Ply back in and gave her so many scritchies she collapsed at my feet. Next step, I'll grab some Feliway, which has worked for them in the past as far as anxiety goes. If the problem persists, I'll take her to the vet. Hopefully the deodorizer concoction and easy-entry box will prevent this from becoming a habit. Grr. I don't care about the carpet, or the apartment floors being ruined (the damage deposit is long long bye bye), I just don't want my home to smell like crazy cat lady town.

But, man, that was an expensive carpet.

Juliebird, Nature's Miracle works like a charm. Oz has peed on hardwood and I have noticed until it was soaked in. I would put Nature's miracle down, and let it absorb and it really does neutralize the odors. My house doesn't smell cat lady at all. (I know because I occasionally ask my friends.)
