I always thought the name Serenity had a vaguely funereal sound to it.

But yay souvenirs and Reykjavik, -t!

I have a package in the mail room. I have no memory of ordering anything, so this is going to be a surprise.

Ooh, surprise package!

I almost bought a LOT of knitted stuff with my mental exchange rate off by a power of ten. Google really saved me. Still got some, because it's beautiful, but not the tons that I wanted.

Someone I know is currently in a room with Ta-Nehisi Coates! (Looks like a small conference room-style panel discussion about reparations.) Cool.

I also sort of just got offered another freelance Classics librarian job. I never in a million years would have assumed that there was freelance Classics Librarian work, but I guess there is!

Wow, flea! To both those things.

Sigh. Looks like there is concious uncoupling happening in my family. Not all about me, of course, but I can't really call and be supportive right now and that's a bummer.

Cool, flea! Is it the sort of freelance job you can take, or one where you're like 'that would be cool if I didn't already HAVE a job"?

I...don't wanna work. (I just wanna bang on the drum all day?) I need to do a bunch of stuff today, and I have to leave the house around 1pm....and I just...can't motivate. I also need to do a bunch of laundry, so I have clean clothes to take with me on my trip tomorrow. But...

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Very cool, flea!

meara, you remind me that I have got to do laundry tonight. I could muddle through a few more days, but I have a work thing all day Saturday and church on Sunday and etc etc.

That is a bummer, -t. Things will still be happening when you get home, though.

That is true! And it's not like all-hands-on-deck-crisis.

Do stuff, meara! Or don't, I'm in no position to be motivating anyone.

Ok, I just looked up our house in the City Directories, to see who lived in it before the family we bought it from. In 1918, and 1927-28, the A. B---- family lived in the house. According to the 1920 census, the family had 2 sons, Alfred and Philip. (By 1930 they'd moved to a house on a nearby street.) Here's the thing - we know a B--- family with roots in Cincinnati! We shared a nanny with them when we lived in NC. The dad's father is named Philip - wrong age to be the Philip who lived in our house, but if it's not the same family I'll eat my hat. I'm guessing those boys from 1920 are the grandfather and great-uncle of the Mr. B---- we know. Wild!
