Yay Suzi!
I made a pie, and because I didn't prebake the crust, or pierce the bottom, the crust swelled up while it baked and the lemon custard went underneath it. It still tasted fine, but it ended up looking pretty weird...
It was fun getting so much exercise this weekend but I'm kind of happy I get tomorrow off (unless I go climbing...)
Your pie sounds delicious, Consuela--lemon and almonds are two of my favorite things.
Shrift, what vegetables do you put in red beans and rice??
Fingers crossed for you Suzi, wow!! That's quick!
And now because of Gris and Shrift I want beans. MMm, beans.
Congrats Suzi!
I should try making red beans and rice sometime, because YUM
Ok, random: there are some friends I have either seen in person enough, or seen enough pictures of, that I don't even notice they've gotten older since we've known each other. The changes are slow enough or subtle enough that I don't notice. It's only if I go back to old photos that I start thinking "wow, we look so young there!" But every once In a while I'll see someone who I knew in college post on a mutual friend's comment, or on a group wall, and go "holy GOD, when did he get so old? Do I look that old? Shit, he DID graduate almost 20 years ago..." (Brought to you tonight by someone who graduated in 1996 and I haven't seen since probably 1998? He looks so middle-aged in his profile pic! I remember when he was super cute!
OK, this is one of the happiest-making vids I've ever seen:

So much fun. Great for Good Stuff, I think...
Typo - I think I can forward your question to a marine engineer - send it to me? Profile addy should work.

A lot of the men look middle-aged now. Some of the women, too, of course, but a lot of the men. Because we are in our 40s! (Speaking from the class of 1995.)
I was surprised at how much older the men looked than the women, in pictures from my 20th high school reunion (now 5 years ago; I didn't go, but someone posted a lot of pics.) I suspect maybe it has something to do with how golf-style shirts make everyone look balding and paunchy? But the women looked good! (In all seriousness, I think some of this has to do with the fact that it's okay for a man to look his age, but women are supposed to 'take care of themselves.' So as a group women make a lot more effort.)
Also, hair -- women dye more, men bald more, etc.
