I have backed away from sugar, but clearly I'm never going to give it up completely if it means I won't like Thai food anymore.

I think you handled that really well, Steph, and I'm also glad that her concern trolling seems to be backfiring.
I personally don't want a Blizzard, because dairy and I aren't getting along lately. But everyone who wants a Blizzard should have one, and it's no one's damn business if they do.
I have backed away from sugar
With the exception of vacation (dessert every night! Literally half the items in the freezer were ice cream of some sort! Nutella crepes!), I've cut way back on sugar, because I have concerns about its role in inflammation. Otherwise I'd still be eating it like I'm The Fly.
At this point I don't plan to cut it out completely; just stop the cookie habit and general sweets-every-night habit. (Which I had done before vacation, and then those damn scotcheroos and Nutella crepes got me.) t edit I also put Nutella ON an ice-cream bar, because I could. Good stuff.

Whoa! That's just crazy talk! But then, I think the "giving up sugar" (and OMG, not liking Thai food anymore??) is scary too. :) I'm quite certain it would be good for me, but...but...(also, what would I put in my coffee in the morning? Just cream?)
Yeah, I don't like DQ, but in a fair and decent universe, that just means MORE BLIZZARD FOR EVERYONE ELSE.
Icky tasks accomplished! But then I realized that I've got a cable service call at 1PM, so I'd better vacuum, especially around the places the guy is going to be crawling....

Yeah, I cut out adding sugar to beverages (coffee and mixers for the booze), pay close attention to how much sugar is in anything I eat, and try to eat mostly dark chocolate for dessert.
I definitely need to stop buying Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and abstain from cookies at work more often.
also, what would I put in my coffee in the morning? Just cream?
If I'm feeling indulgent I'll add cream, but usually it's just almond milk.
Mmmm, sugar.
I can't drink coffee without cream and sugar. I usually put in a packet of Splenda so I can use less sugar, but still, it doesn't taste right without some sugar.
Oh, I'm fine with just splenda, it's what I normally use, but I figure if I were giving up sugar, that sweetness hit on my tastebuds would be just as bad.
