Natter 73: Chuck Norris only wishes he could Natter
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I do NOT have an extra hour this weekend. I can't Spring Forward.
Moving my office. Going virtual again, combined with moving some operations to customer sites. The building where I was leasing changed hands and we are not staying. Moving never gets any easier. It just sucks.
Also, DH's Ford 350 decided this was a good weekend to think about losing a valve or something super major like that. 230K miles on it so not worth big repairs. So buying a new truck on the list too! ND, I may have Brendon consult with you since he may be tiring of going back and forth with me on the pros and cons of fixing, buying new, buying used. 150,250,350, etc. (I know he will do 350 again.)
This and we had some big integration project stuff go live on Friday so we will have a crazy busy Monday. And we are traveling to Texas sometime mid weekish. Probably swinging through New Orleans on the way back. Because -
... It Is My 25th Wedding Anniversary the 17th of March ...
Seriously, 25 years ago I thought that things would get less hectic at some point. Hasn't happened.
Yay, Silver Anniversaries! Congratulations!
ION, I took the damned contact lens out, proper focus on my computer screen and full depth perception at distance trumps being able to read up close.
IOON, I found the coolest set of reading glasses, the temple pieces telescope into themselves and the bridge folds. The whole thing fits into a case the size of a Zippo lighter. They are the coolest thing.
The Lion in Winter is about an old king who has three sons and a young mistress.
I've got nothing real to add, just the fact that I designed a production of this about a year ago.
Sophia, that does sound like a likely inspiration.
Connie, back when you were talking about feeling like you haven't made progress in cleaning out; it helps me to take before and after pictures. Don't know if that would help you. I'm sorry it's such a slow, overwhelming process.
Laura, aroo? Let me and Nora know if you have time to meet up. This Saturday is the crazy St. Paddy's day parade in our hood.
I'm sorry it's such a slow, overwhelming process.
I made the mistake of going into Hubby's Corner and hit the Wall of Can't Cope Yet. That corner of the living room may just have to be the last thing I deal with.
smonster, I will let you guys know when I know our plans better. We have a basketball tournament in Houston that will be on Friday and Saturday. Other than that I don't know where we are going when.
Shindig went well. I had fun, and I'm glad I went. Me 1, Anxiety Demon 0!
where I attempted to soothe the gnawing unease with the purchase of one of Narcissa Malfoy's castoffs.
It may not be soothing, but it's fabulous.
Am I the only person who thinks "The backseat of my Subaru is where she grew up" sounds dirty??
You are not the only one. Every time I see that commercial, I cringe.
I was going to go to bed, but I've fallen into some damn stupid thing on television about Bigfoot.
Katharine Hepburn and Peter O'Toole, as well as Anthony Hopkins in his first film.
The other two sons are played by 007 and King Arthur--Timothy Dalton and Nigel Terry.
There is a painting--or rather, a fresco, in Windsor Castle, of Henry II as an old eagle, pursued and attacked by three young eagles--his princely sons.
Also, The Lion in Winter is a lovely bookend of Henry's life, the early one being Becket, with Richard Burton as Thomas a Becket. Nice Henry 2 film fest for a lazy Saturday afternoon and evening.
I am not discussing this on FB yet, but, despite the ExWifeHellbeast's best efforts, we accepted an offer on our house today. It has been extremely stressful, cleaning, renovating, showing (162 showings in 3 months), and Ex has done her best to make every step as excruciating as possible.
We got as good an offer as could be expected, and she still fought it every step of the way. I don't know how we are going to come up with the money to move to a rental, as we will receive zero money from the sale -- all money goes to the Hellbeast -- but I am so happy to have the house sold -- mixed in with sadness, because I love this house and neighborhood, and since the reno, I adore it.
Funny -- the buyer is an FBI agent! Hee. I thought that Dan was a FBI or CIA analyst when we first started dating, because he wouldn't talk about his job in computer security. (He's not, BTW -- I would totally have weaseled it out of him by now.)
So YAY for house selling, and wish us -ma for finding a good rental, getting a decent closing date, money -ma, and Hellbeast staying out of our business-ma.
I had 4 cocktails, so forgive the spewage of vitriol.
The Lion in Winter is one of my favorite movies ever, and I did a monologue from it for acting class when we were playing "against type". "I could peel you like a pear and God himself would call it justice.."
