After 3 hours at the airport, the flight out this morning was cancelled and no other flight options out today. Parentals came and got us, took us to lunch and now 3 hours later I am almost finished cancelling hotel & car and re-booking them. We are losing 1 whole day and not saving one cent. Fuckity.
I looked to see if there was anywhere I could get last minute cheaper than what I have tied up in these tickets, but because of the bad weather, not one damn thing. So I will stick with it. one more delay though and I am going to be on the phone demanding a full airline refund.
Sucks.
So, remember meara's fancy dinner dress? I just bought one, too. I could definitely wear it to work, but will I? I want to wear it to a cocktail party overlooking the city!

Jesse, maybe the answer is you and I need to be in the same city and have a fabulous fancy dinner??
I also have way too much to do (and for the same operations as -t,) but I am up in SF with color gunk on my hair after a nice lunch with Juliana. I can go back to being frantic when I get home I guess
That is an excellent idea, meara! We can be hot shit together.

Woo color gunk, Lee!
Taking a break. I don't think any of my To Do's are actually Done, but several are underway, so that's something. I think I need to work on Being Okay with Shit Not Getting Done. Usually that comes pretty naturally to me, but when I have a deadline things get weird.
Because I know how to party, I am making color-coded daily plans for our tiny little 2.5 day vacation. Driving times, estimated times at the National Parks. I AM WILD AND CRAZY.

I came to work yesterday to find an email from our division chief forwarding an email from the chancellor announcing that he was initiating a "comprehensive review" of our entire program "in the context of" faculty attrition, lack of growth over the last few years, and "gaps in communication" between team members. The chancellor went on to reassure us that many programs just like ours had undergone similar reviews at other institutions, "often with positive results." The division chief noted that he'd be happy to answer any of our questions and concerns. Then he left for a 3-day weekend.
I consoled myself, as one does, by letting one of Hec's oldest friends take me to the Vintage Fashion Expo in Golden Gate Park, where I attempted to soothe the gnawing unease with the purchase of one of Narcissa Malfoy's castoffs. And yet, the gnawing unease remains.
