What I need to do is just decide to skip a meal entirely sometime and have cake & coffee in its place.

That works. I love doing that, but find it hard to pull off for some reason.
I went to the eye doctor for my second post-surgery checkup. I have a near perfect response to the lens implant, yay, eyeball!
I talked to him about the multi-focus lens, and he said he wouldn't let anyone put it in his own eye. He showed me one, and it's set up with concentric rings inside it that are supposed to flex and focus, but he thinks they won't work that well and catch light weirdly. I agree. We then talked about putting in a near-distance lens in the left eye, and I'm currently wearing a contact lens of the recommended strength. I can function quite well with it, but it's upsetting to have everything always slightly fuzzy. That's countered by being able to just pick up and read something without having to get reading glasses.
So I was leaning towards the ability to casually read, then I sat down at my computer. The distance is just off enough that it's not completely in focus with either eye, and that's not going to work. I can actually see it pretty well with just the distance lens, and having both eyes in focus should overcome the lack there--plus getting rid of the small cataract this is there in the left eye.
There are also reported issues with night driving with two different focuses, but I haven't tried that yet. I'm supposed to test this for a week, but at the moment I'm leaning towards matching lenses and I just get used to having reading glasses--heck, or a monocle!--handy for reading.
Woo eyes! A reading monocle would be pretty cool.
Matt, we used to get dinner at one restaurant and go to another for dessert and after-dinner drinks. The time in-between was just right.
ND, unofficial congrats!
Cindy, I'm so sorry for the Bronzers' loss.
Connie, I'm taking notes on your lens implant adventure, for when I almost inevitably have my own.
I want very much to go for dinner tonight, but not enough to shovel the driveway. I'm supposed to go to an all-day game-athon tomorrow, and I'm probably going to have to shovel myself out for that. but I'm putting it off as long as possible. Ugh, I don'wanna.
A monocle would be amazing.
Timelies all!
Ugh, what the hell is going on with my face? After I finished shoveling and came inside, I noticed the area near my right cheekbone was itchy and hot. Woke up this morning and a large part of my right cheek was red and a bit puffy. Plus there are several itchy bumps which I am trying not to scratch. (since I don't need more marks on my face)
Nunya has suddenly taken a shine to a pile of my flannel shirts, alternately licking them and vigorously scent-marking them with her face. So long as she doesn't chew holes in them.
Oh, and she's also finally discovered my birds-on-branches wall decal and is either trying to catch the birds, or just enjoys trying to peel it off the wall.
Philly Flower Show mystery (yes, I ended up buying the ticket): a scene from a movie that had a lot of people saying ""Lost: The Movie"?". There was sand, a submarine with computer screens, a hatch in the ground glowing red, lots of fuel barrels, some liquor bottles hidden in the bushes, lots of what seemed to salvaged metal from military vehicles, and a cooking fire made from a side-turned oil drum. The closest I could figure is the 1959 "On the Beach". But all the other movie scenes were Disney, unless that was a red herring in this instance.
Sounds like it is a snow burn (like a sun burn...but more from the reflected sun) Maybe?
So, today's adventures. Another marvelous friend of mine, H, had referred me to a real estate agent, B. I had actually tried to work with her a few months back when I was trying to feel out the market and see if I could get what I want for the price I was willing to pay. Anyway, she answered my questions and then just kinda let it drop. I didn't think too much of it at the time cause I wasn't ready to buy, but wasn't that her shot to create a relationship so I would go to her when I was ready? Anyway, I never got her phone number, just an e-mail. H has spoken so highly of B so I sent her a message saying I was ready. Her response was very canned and asked me to give details of what I was looking for and my availability and again, no phone number. I replied and heard NOTHING from her.
One of the families that K-Bug babysits for just bought their house recently and they had given K-Bug glowing reports about their agent, K. Got K's information today, sent her an e-mail and she called me immediately. She lives right in the area I'm looking at, so I know she knows the neighborhoods. We clicked and I'll see where things go with her.
In a fit of annoyance I sent a note to B saying "Nevermind. I've decided to go in a different direction". And immediately got an e-mail back "Ok, Let me know if I can be of help".
Responsiveness, people. Is it so hard? Houses are moving through the market so fast I need someone on the ball. I think I have found her, so it is all good. But dang, B. Really?
Welp, the hope was that I'd spend the workday cranking out my monthly reports that SHOULD go out with time to spare before I go on vacation so I can get responses before I leave, and then come home and get right to the cleaning and laundry I need to be doing all weekend. Other work tasks interfered with the first part of that plan and now I'm too tired to stick to the second. So it goes.
BK for dinner and a Zipz in the fridge seems pretty okay, though. I'll try not to sleep for 11 hours tonight, get some stuff done in the morning.
