Fred: It's the pictures in my mind that are getting me. It's like being stuck in a really bad movie with those Clockwork Orange clampy things on my eyeballs. Wesley: Why imagine? Reality's disturbing enough.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

That picture of Leonard Nimoy ... he looks kind of weird without the pointy ears.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

What makes me sad is having to check the box marked "widow/widower."

I enjoy that, in a dark way. People look at it and flinch, and I like seeing people be disturbed by contemplating how it feels.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

From what publicly available info I've seen, Nimoy seemed to have a good, long life. I'm glad he shared his Spock with us. May he rest in peace or move on to an even groovier stage in the universal cycle.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

OK, have applied coffee, tea, Flonase, Nasalcrom, Claritin, Aleve, miso soup, shirred eggs, and chocolate covered espresso beans and have gotten the headache I woke up with to recede. Time to get this day underway.

I'm still in Puerto Vallarta, but everyone else has left and I'm just killing a last half hour (and one more beer) before heading to the airport. It was a great week and I'm not really looking forward to going back to work on Monday--glad I have the weekend at home to prepare. Also not looking forward to going back on my diet, but definitely feeling like its a good idea to do so.

I always think of Conan the Barbarian when I see the word Nasalcrom or any cold remedy using the syllable crom. Perhaps it comes from Conan invoking Crom when he has a cold.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Even with the slider, I still see the light color as periwinkle or ice blue.

Once, when I shared an office a couple hours a week with a man who spoke on the phone, very loudly in SPanish, I crawled under the desk and plugged my ears so I could answer the phone and talk to customers without being distracted.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Me, too. It's like those Magic Eye posters where people claim to see a 3D image in it -- I have never in my life, not even once, seen the 3D image, so I can't quite wrap my brain around the idea that there really is one.

Same with this dress. Not once has it looked white to me, not even when it's tweaked to the lightest possible setting, and I can't figure out where people are getting white from.

My brain is a stubborn place.
