Pandora just served me up Evanescence.

I can't tell if it's the best troll ever or if Pandora just really gets me right now.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

shrift and -t, so much ~ma for you and your families right now.

You all know the drama surrounding Rob's death. It didn't occur at the funeral, but it was directly related. The service itself was lovely, and I think it was a fine way to honor him, considering his mother and father did not offer any input into it, even though I asked. They also didn't offer to help pay for anything either, but that doesn't matter. I would have turned them down, but that was the least of their offenses against me.

Because books.

Oh, tommy, that's hard.

It is beautifully sunny here today and 30, which pretty much feels like summer at this point.

Right? I walked downtown with my coat unzipped and it practically felt like spring compared to yesterday.

tommy, I'm sorry that your brother feels like he needs to pull away. It's tough when you don't get the chance to understand why.

tommy, so sorry to hear about your self-estranged brother. And yet, I'm so happy to hear that your family is awesome enough to not let that put you off of loving him, because I know that can turn families ugly.

Maybe he feels guilty for not contributing and is just embarrassed? I hope that bridge gets mended for you.

I've finally fixed the link in Beep Me so you can actually click it.

In random news, at the chiro's today, and in the bathroom was a fresh roll of tp, so I had to break the glue on the first sheet. The smell was so redolent of my grandmother's house, powdery and a bit floral. What a random olfactory association.

Herding cats for fun

Wishing tommy all the please-come-back~ma I can summon. Hope I get a little extra for myself; it would be nice to see my cousin again. Alas that he was so displeased by the disposition of his mother's estate! I've stopped asking...

Kat, if you would like to hear about how I cured my plantar fascitis with a little roll of wool to support my instep I would happily hold forth at length. It was cheap and easy and perfect for me.

Juliebird, I was deeply bummed about the hard fate of the goats. I've always imagined that living outside and herding goats is a good retirement plan...

They are wonderful creatures. As a staff, we'd really become enamoured of them and didn't want to see them go back to their farm. We'd all been hoping for a long-lived relationship where we'd get to possibly see the same little dudes every fall, do staff trips out to the farm, get the babies in for our spring festival, have them back every year in the fall for a month or two. Little fucking heart-stealers. Now we have returning students and school groups asking about them, and the Children's educators are trying to be diplomatic over THEY'RE ALL DEAD and not having their own hearts break all over again.

One of my colleagues actually went out, at the end of her day, and would say goodbye to each and everyone of them. Every day. She was in the midst of planning a contest for naming the baby goats that would be visiting us for our spring fest.

My buddy Beast the big love who would lean against me like a bulldog is dead. Rain the unicorn who liked to hang out between my legs because she was so fucking tiny. Fiona who stole the show and ate everything forever and ever and always while all the others were trying not to explode and gave the most fantastic downward-leaping headbutts. We were nutso about them, we all wanted to be goat-herders when we grew up and have goats for puppies and goats at work for always (and never get any work done).

Aaand, I'm done.

Awwwww.... the poor creatures. I've always heard that goats are loaded with personality and unfair cuteness, plus that having them graze hillsides to bring down the fuel load works for everybody.

Except some Marin joggers from the Eighties, who objected to unsightly animal poop on their trails.

I hope that this batch of goats will be succeeded by another herd who gets to fulfill all your charming plans.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh, that's so sad, Juliebird.

I am eating an unnecessary amount of chocolate, trying to get myself psyched up to do some work.

That's the plan, Katerina. To raise enough money to get Larry and Ann a new herd and a new barn.

In the meantime, the poop they shared will fertilize our daffodils and wildflowers. Not Larry and Ann's poop. The goat's poop.

Sorry, I have to get crass or I'll start crying again.
