Reavers ain't men. Or they forgot how to be. Now they're just nothing. They got out to the edge of the galaxy, to that place of nothing, and that's what they became.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

My customer's last name is U'Ren. Where is that from? Irish?

AFAIK, it originated in Cornwall as Uren. No idea why there's a Go'a'uld apostrophe in it now.

brillig

Ah ha! He's been snaked! No wonder he's inflicting Rush Limbaugh on me from the background!

edit: though now that I think about it, without the apostrophe, his name gets pronounced "urine". With the apostrophe, he gets "you-wren".

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I have an author who cannot understand that we need permission to reproduce a table that was published in another journal's article. Well, that's not accurate; the author cannot seem to grasp that we need a standard permission FORM. We've sent the author the form, and THREE TIMES he has forwarded us a copy of the email he sent to the other journal requesting permission.

It's not actually my responsibility to wrangle this, because the article has moved past the stage where I deal with it, but because the author has my email from earlier in the process, he keeps emailing ONLY ME. Like, the editorial office -- a whole different email than mine -- will email him and ask, AGAIN, for the damn permission form, and he will reply by forwarding *me* the copy of the email where he asked the other journal for permission.

I finally replied to him and told him that he needs to send the FORM to such-and-such address (and cc-ed the other address), noted it was in the cc field, and told him to STOP emailing me.

We'll see what happens. My money is on me getting at least one more copy of the email where he's asking the other journal for permission.

I used to think that JAMA, being published by the AMA, was so big-time that surely the authors would have their shit together. I was SO WRONG.

Guys, my house is starting to look SO GOOD. There's some in-progress pics on Facebook. This dark grey, light grey, white trim and wainscotting is so elegant and pretty.

God DAMN, I don't want to move.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Can I just say that YESTERDAY was such a stressful mess for me, but then there was this one moment of Awesome! that got me through the rest of it. Awesome = msbelle cookies! Little package of love in the mail. So great! So yum!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

We've sent the author the form, and THREE TIMES he has forwarded us a copy of the email he sent to the other journal requesting permission.

I know this pain SO WELL. What part of "[News organization] does not accept emails as 3rd party releases, please fill out and sign this form." is hard to understand?

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

You made me smile just now.

I spent 1.5 days offsite, sitting with ppl learning their parts of the big process and how our parts work together, then had my review this morning, then 2 webex trainings. Done. Review was fine. Being offsite was kinda nice, but wow is the atmosphere tense at our corporate headquarters. Webexes were kinda stupid.

I want a nap, but none coming and this is my Saturday to work, so no sleeping in then either.

Also delicious for dunking in tea btw!

That sounds like a day of mild onerosity, msbelle. I hate web training programs like whoa.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I'm sitting in a taxi wishing I'd left earlier because traffic is terrible. My work inbox is a giant mess and I have stuff I need to do this evening, so who knows how much sleep I'll get with a 4am wake up. But at least I'll be on vacation for a couple of days?
