Herding cats for fun

Anybody remember the "Jams" craze? Big, baggy, cottony, comfortable, elastic waist, bright colors, deep pockets because it was guywear. Cool because of the association with surf and skate board culture. Fat girls rejoiced. For awhile they were everywhere. I fondly remember some of my greatest youthful adventures occurring in that pink and purple pair of jams and my Batman t shirt. Good times!

I just finished editing an article about developing a test to measure whether patients with facial paralysis can make a spontaneous smile in response to something funny/pleasant (as opposed to the voluntary smile people make for pictures, etc.).

So the article described how they developed the test, which was by searching YouTube for funny videos and then showing them to a control group and then the patients. They didn't give any links to the videos, but just described them, like "Goats," "Big dog dancing," "Dog on Skateboard," etc. And now I really want to see them! (Though I suspect I've seen the skateboarding dog, because I love him.)

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I just saw the cutest pair at Target on clearance, but I would have had to hem off all the detail on the cuff to wear them without tripping.

Put a seam above the detail instead! It'll work if the pants are straight at that point, problematic if they widen.

Yay, Amy, getting back into editing!

Well, could they? Come on, that's interesting! Melisa had Bell's palsy for a while, she couldn't move half her face at all. A chiropractor cured it, no lie.

Because books.

I think they got wider, but I'd have to look again. They were jersey knit, though, so I don't know how well hemming them not right at the bottom would look. So cute, though, a black and white print with this paisley border detail.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That is interesting!

On the flip side, have you all seen this crazy ad with people laughing and crying? [link] I think my father has that, but only with laughing, thank goodness. I mean, sometimes I think he is happy and laughing at things that are funny, but he definitely laughs for literally no reason.

brillig

It dawned on me that, with my short legs, that the current fashion for cropped (ptui, we will speak no more of it) pants are perfect for being normal length on me. So I shall order a couple of pair of Woman Within's cropped (ptui) pants and see if they are proper length on me.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Man, I felt like I had half a brain the first few hours of today. That's over.

Those pants sound really cute, Amy! But hemming them does sound hard.

I just recently had to get rid of some Jams because the elastic waist totally deteriorated. So comfortable.

I've had good luck with wearing cropped pants as normal for me length, Connie. I don't mind cropped length that hits me short either, though, so I will not spit.

Well, could they?

97% could, though not to the same degree for all patients, because of the differing degrees of paralysis.

Wow, that's fascinating.
