I feel like for me the most useful service AAA provides (roadside assistance service) my insurance also provides and, since I'm already paying for the insurance, I haven't thought it was necessary to pay extra to AAA. I have Geico, btw, and I've used their roadside assistance services several times and it's always been fine.

Ah, I have Geico as well!
Hmm, Geico says I qualify for a discount if I complete an online defensive driver's course. Cool.
Edit: And I do already have that coverage!
The $57 membership has towing for 5 miles, but I work 20 miles from home.
For me, the important distance isn't how far from home, but how far from somewhere that can fix the car. Getting a broken car home isn't going to help me much.

I will second that Geico's roadside service is excellent.
I've just added the contact number to my cellphone. That is a large relief.
Ta da! One less thing to worry about.
In case it's a surprise to anyone, having you all around has made all this so much less of a horror and let me see the potential for unexpected adventure and accomplishment. He'd be proud of me, figuring out this new world and how to kick its ass.
I'm sure he was often and always proud of you Connie.
