Angel: I appreciate you guys looking out for Connor all summer. It's just—he's confused. He needs time. That's all. Fred: Right. Time, and some corporal punishment with a large heavy mallet. Not that I'm bitter.

Because books.

Any ideas what it means if you're watching a YouTube video (on a Windows laptop, an HP, I think), and a white screen pops up, with a flickering gray bar to the middle left? (It also looks like a test pattern bar -- you can see the stripes that make up the bar as a whole.)

Sara was using Claire's computer last night, with permission, and this happened. I turned it off and unplugged it, thinking I would restart it in the morning, and the scary white screen refuses to go away.

Bosses need to lay off everyone.

I don't know that that came out quite right. Unless people want lay offs, I guess. ;)

Hope your ouchies are better soon. Ouchies suck, especially when you are expected to act normally during them.

brillig

The Holt novels were 'Gothic Romance' and I devoured them in probably middle school

They continue to be devoured in my home, though my copies are wearing out. Also Jane Aiken Hodge and Mary Stewart. They hold up surprisingly well.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Oh yes, I loved those.

NPR told me that DJ Jazzy Jeff is 50 today.

Wow. That's inconceivable!

I'm hoping my back/arm is better today. I slept for a very long time.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I cannot stop sleeping. Yesterday I called in to work and slept until 1. TOday I was 2 hours late because I overslept. I often am up in the middle of the night (say 2 am - 5 am) but fall asleep just as I need to get up. Last night I slept through, though. I actually snoozed the alarm from 5:24 am to 9:00 am, which I don't even understand how I can do that. My cat was also walking on me and meowing.

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

Banner few days, I guess.

Just found out my Grandma passed away. Like, half an hour ago.

It's okay. We've been kinda holding our breath on this for about...fifteen years.

Still.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

{{MM}} An expected loss is still a loss and they do tend to be cumulative.

Sophia, I have been feeling like I could just sleep and sleep and sleep lately. I've been going to bed at my usual time and letting myself have an extra half hour before I get up and that doesn't seem to make much difference. Combination of the time of year and, well, my default reaction to stress is to try to sleep through it, I think. Anyway, fully caffeinated beverages for another week, at least.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

Aw, MM. Sorry. It's still hard, even if it's expected.
