I had squash bread? But I guess that's more a vegetable? (YES! I HAD VEGETABLES FOR BREAKFAST!)

And when I think about the amount of vacation I have to burn through rather than be able to use next year as planned I come very close to putting a fist or foot through a wall.

It would serve them right if y'all were like "Oh, in THAT case, we will ALL be on vacation. At the same time. For the next several weeks. OOPS!" Go you with the fomenting.

The only ones it would hurt would be the institute- this is not their fault, and our loyalties lie with our workplace- this is the subcontractor's doing. In 'organizing' we are trying to tread a very thin line of NOT threatening the Institute, but pointing out that *just* the latest vacation policuy change does have severe impacts on the workload in the next 5 months that we're not happy about and will be trying to mitigate, but that is only one of our sources of discontent.

If everyone affected were to take off the month of august to burn through time, the repercussions would be felt at least 18 months out. Not to mention certain parts of operations would have to cease entirely in catastrophic ways.

We don't actually want that to happen.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Happy Sox Day! Fill yourself with treats!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

My last job was kind of like that anyway, and people knew the vacation was use-or-lose. But damn, it was hard to get anything done in August.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Also, I had a piece of (what I now know to be) pulled pork and mango pizza for lunch. Fruit!!!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That is a difficult situation, sarameg, when your recourse is to hurt someone you don't want to hurt and not the ones who are screwing you. Good luck.

Is anyone here a member of AAA? Now that my vehicular resource is gone, I'm wanting someone I can call if weirdness happens when I'm driving home. Is it worth the money?

Our wings are not tired.

I've had AAA since I was in college, A Very Long Time. I haven't used it often recently but I am way ahead of the game. I recommend it for sure.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I'm a member of AAA, and it's definitely useful. I'm not sure how much it costs, since I'm on my parents' account, but I've used it a couple times. Having the card also makes you eligible for discounts on some other stuff.
