So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I think of people by board names, to the point that I have a number of Facebook friends whose online identities I'm not quite sure of aside from being buffistas.

Guilty. I usually used to know, but it's also usually people who don't post here anymore, and I just forgot their board name.

My Facebook name is the same as here, except with my actual legal last name instead of Paul's. Did I ever mention that using it was an accident? I signed up on WX, expecting that there would be a preferred name after entering the real name, but nope. Just the real name.

I hadn't realized at the time quite how uncommon a name is Marcontell. Fewer than a thousand of them. So, really, not as sneaky as I'd thought. But the people I wanted to not find me on the Internets did anyway because we still had friends in common, so if I ever remember or reset my FB password, I'll probably change my FB name to my full first name, middle initial, and last name.

Half of you call me Plei, anyhow. Which I'm fine with, FTR.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I tend to think of people by their board names. I'm crap at remembering names to start with, so adding in that double layer just means double the fun of calling someone by the wrong name.

I've considered changing my board name a few times, but at this point, I've answered to Sail in person for long enough among Buffistas that I feel it's more my identity than Ellen is.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I remember ita wondering if your name translating to "negativi-tee" and laughing.

Oh, yeah! I remember wishing I was that clever.

Because books.

It's funny, because I think of some people as their real names, and some as their board names only. Sail, you've always been "Sail" to me.

I hadn't realized at the time quite how uncommon a name is Marcontell.

Does that mean I shouldn't use it as a character last name? Because it's a great name.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

You should totally use it as a character last name!

Plei, see the SPN thread. Fandoms collide.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

My first board name (not here) was "seniorslayer," which I realized too late made me sound like I was in my dotage.

It makes me think you're a creepy serial killer who is so slow you can only sneak up on very very old people.

when i die, please bake my ashes into a brick and use me to hit fascists.

When I first started with the Internets, no one told me not to use my real name, so I've used it a lot of places. Joining this board where I didn't know anybody, I figured it was my opportunity to actually have a screen name.

Amy - Jan 21, 2015 7:18:12 am PST #16401 of 30000
Because books.

And now you see why I stopped using it.
