I'm sorry, Strix.
Jessica, fingers crossed that you fake it until you make it tomorrow.
True fact: to this day I have to remind myself that "to misle" is not a real verb.
I think my first mangled pronunciation of a word I'd only read before was "ennui." Pretty sure it went something like "en-you-eye" because I didn't know its origin was with cheese-eating surrender monkeys.
I thought "awry" was pronounced "AW-ree," and that the word I heard people SAY every so often was "arigh."
I thought "mausoleum" was pronounced maw-SO-leeum. Even now I have to think about it. Usually I just say tomb.
And now I'm looking at the "misled" quote and I can't stop hearing the name it begins with as "Purse-a-phone."
Jeez, Strix!
Strength for your interview tomorrow, Jess.
Strix, I am so, sorry. I can't...that's awful. {{Strix}} {{D}}
If you think about it, it makes sense. ita was one of the people who brought us here and she still has that ability. There's something beautiful about her building community still.
I like this.
So my friend has been looking for media that isn't depressing and I am dealing with grief, so we saw
The Babadook.
Which turns out to be a story about grief and depression.
We hugged and laughed about it afterward and we didn't know why it was so funny but it felt good.
Congratulations on the marriage, katefate! And congrats to you as well, Kathy! Strix, I am sorry for your loss. Why does the universe feel the need to lump these things together until you are curled up in fetal position covering your head for fear of the next blow?
My iPad is really not a fan of the board names. I nearly congratulated "late fate" and comforted "Strip." I am impressed I caught the errors, since I am barely three sips into my coffee.
I just accepted a few friend requests on Facebook, and I must confess I have no idea who they were from. But seeing as they were all from people with pink gingham profile pictures, I figured it was safe. In case any of you sent the request simply because I had the same profile pic and have no idea who I am, my name is Heather IRL.
Hi David. I agree, despite the ghastly circumstances it's great to see so many old names. I just read the verb "to Nilly" for the first time this decade and laughed aloud.
Just got the news in an email from Nilly. Hadn't been on pretty much anywhere this week, and almost didn't check email tonight. I hadn't even seen ita's pixels for probably over a year, and still can't stop crying. Damn.
I'll try to catch up on the intervening 800 posts, and will stop back in tomorrow.
Damn. This is just not possible.
