MacBook pro got in 2008 maybe. 8 gb of memory. My info says " your Mac contains 2 memory slots each of which accepts a 1333 MHz ddr3 memory module. All memory slots are currently in use"
I also stupidly went grocery shopping when everyone and their brother was doing the same thing.
We went grocery shopping TWICE today, once to take Tim's dad shopping, when the entire world was shopping, and then at another store for our groceries. (We have strong preferences as to where we shop, as does Tim's dad. In retrospect, it was a little silly to not just get our groceries at the same store.)

If you have 8G, then upgrading to Yosemite probably won't be a disaster. Probably. It's been relatively smooth for me, but other people have been having problems.
Ok I started the download. This is all so I can play marvel heroes with Mac.
So it downloaded. Restarted. And now I have had a screen saying "installing on Mac HD" "about 22 min remaining" no progress showing and that has been up about 12 min.
Yes, that was my experience, too.
Yeah, took forever for me, msbelle--mine is an "early 2011 macbook pro".
But once it was installed, while Chrome seemed to suck a lot (so much so that I switched back to Safari) but otherwise it's been fine. I'm enjoying messages.
Do just sit on this installing page? It may take how long? Hours?
Hmmm. My MacBook Pro is from 2011, but I only have 4GB of memory. I'm waffling on installing it b/c of that.
