Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Chicago in the spring is nice, from my brief acquaintance with it.

It was probably Chicago's brief acquaintance with it as well.

I'm so mightily grateful for my working heater, it ain't even funny.

Storm windows are all down, but this 1890s building still sports a draft here and there.

I'm enjoying looking at the pretty patterns the frost makes on the storm windows...from the inside!

Our wings are not tired.

Put bubble wrap over the windows. We used that stretchy plastic stuff to insulate the windows in Otter Lake and it made a big difference. If I had actual cold to deal with I would go with bubble wrap!

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

There's not really much I can do with the windows in my kitchen. They cover an entire wall, starting about a foot off the floor and going up to the ten-foot ceiling, and my table and a rolling cabinet thing are in front of them, so I can't install plastic or anything on them too easily. On the windows in my living room, I've got the plastic stuff plus insulated curtains, and I'm going to install the plastic on the last living room window and the bedroom and bathroom windows tomorrow.

For you north is closer to the equator, right? so in addition to having the wrong seasons, your directions are upside-down.

Wow, I hadn't even thought of it like that before! Freaky.

Though I quite like Seattle's two seasons; 9 months of the year we get 40-50 and raining, three months we get 70 and sunny!

If only everyone else didn't think that would be wonderful to live in, I'd move there if I were richer.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

That is pretty ideal, meara.

Franny's reaction when we were in Utah was "Look! Elsa was here!"

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Wow, I hadn't even thought of it like that before! Freaky.

Furthermore, at the exact same time as your days were getting shorter, ours were getting longer. I'm in ur Antipodes, stealing ur dayz.

I could never live in Seattle. My optimum is 80% sunny days; I get miserable after a couple dreary days. And after 3 days of snow and stupid cold, I'll angrily stab something. This latitude is as bad a winter as I could ever take.

The patterns really are beautiful.
