we'll see if they notice is when they return them!
No, they probably won't, because they probably aren't reading with an eye to making sure you didn't change their words. I've had more than one author "confess" to me that he didn't actually read his proofs. Your boss shouldn't be changing their words without flagging them on it unless it's an
obvious
misspelling or typo.
tsk
Totally on your side. If you're the village idiot, we need two villages.

I actually *asked* her if we should query the author to see if changing "average" to "median" is okay, and that's when she said "They were inconsistent, so we'll see what they say!"
She's really normally not careless, so I think maybe she's just massively overworked and going through my stuff really quickly.
No, wait -- I just checked the copy we sent, and she *did* specifically query the author "Okay to change to 'median', since that term is used in the previous sentence?"
So we'll look crazy, but at least the author can give us a definitive "No! You people are crazy!"

Whew! I was actually worried.
I need a IV Vodka Valium, stat. Push 2 cc's of Fukitol.

I'll take that, please.
No, I really would have a drink right now if I didn't have so much work for Client #2 to finish, and I know I can't edit with a buzz.
Okay, it's not a drink, but I finally caved and took 1/2 a percocet I had squirreled away, because my back has been intermittently killing me for 2 weeks. Usually it eases up as the day goes on (I suspect due to moving around and loosening stuff up), but not today. Ibuprofen and tylenol might as well be Skittles. (As long as they're sour Skittles, the zenith of Skittle achievement.)
So I may be heading into loopy territory any time now.
(Yes, I need to do the PT exercises for my back that I learned when I *really* hurt it back in...2008? 2009? But right now I just need it to stop hurting so dang much first.)
Hope it helps, Teppy! I went to bed early last night with a headache, then scared the hell out of my sister and BIL by waking up at 3AM, realizing I needed medication and it was downstairs, and then trying to traverse the stairs with a baby gate that was not there during the day, and inadvertently knocking things off the staircase. Oops. BIL apparently freaked out for a second thinking I was a burglar, sister apparently was afraid I fell down and killed myself. :) (Good news: the drugs worked)
I cannot convince myself to do more work today. My attitude is the worst. It's not like I don't have the spoons, since I'm catching up on my history course this afternoon. I'm just full up with IDGAF.
All right, you guys. I'm forcing myself to respond to a couple of emails. I am totally earning the peanut butter cookie I already ate!
Timelies all!
The replacement debit card has arrived, and is activated. Yay. One of my Comixology subscriptions got inactivated, and I had to fix that.
