It's all about choices, Faith. The ones we make, and the ones we don't. Oh, and the consequences. Those are always fun.

Oh Connie! I need to send you an email. I'm in your neck of the woods and we are all being slow pokes, so I should have time to meet up for a coffee or a walk or whatever.

I got your email and responded. Today's weather is horrid, so I don't plan to do anything today except crawl home very carefully, always assuming I don't spin out just getting out of my damned work driveway. The downside of having a stunning view across the valley is having multiple steep switchbacks to get up to the view. And of course a building that's half-empty is low on the road/parking lot maintenance totem pole.

I barely made it up the last slope into work, it was that slushly. To say nothing of the four-lane viaduct that was covered in slush. I'm getting pretty good at the not panicking as my car loses traction in traffic. Now the rest of the idiots need to SLOW THE FUCK DOWN!

Shrift, I do really like my paper white. I didn't think I would (I rarely felt the need for a book light with my old kindle) but it's been nice. Though between family and Internet, I haven't read ANY books this vacation!! Though lots of Yuletide.

Fingers crossed for you, Sue!!

I am irked because somehow while visiting, I've either gotten a spider bite, Lyme disease, or ringworm...on the back of my neck. Wtf?? Makes it very hard to see changes and/or apply medication (we are working on a hypothesis of ringworm). In any case....ew.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Maybe you were bitten by a vampire with a broken fang?

Small child, ringworm is pretty likely. Slap some athletes foot cream on it, for good measure.

Had a good sleep in, though it was peppered with demolition dreams because my neighbor is having her kitchen reno'ed or something..

Ok, off to hopefully procure a vacuum. Wish me luck.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yikes, meara.

Huzzah! My boots did come! Zappos is back in my good graces.

The power is off here at work for some scheduled maintenance. I shut my work computer down, and there's enough power in my UPS to power the external speakers for my MacBook Pro so I'm all set for some internetting.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Back at work. End of year clean up in full swing.

I finished my self-eval, so that is done.

I need to write and submit 9 POs today. Something (that no one can explain to me) changed in our approval system and POs set up exactly like ones we are current using are being rejected now. The instructions I am being given on most of the rejections are to re-write as 2 POs, no process reason as to why, so double work for me.

I also need to pay a few bills and reconcile credit cards with scanned receipts.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Found a stack of my boss's work on my desk this morning, some expected, some not. I wish she'd told me I was going to be doing her editing as well as getting her journal into press. Eh, whatever. I'm an editin' fool, bring it on.

Crap. Power's already back on!

I should probably surf the internet a bit longer, just in case the power goes off again, right?

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Ugh. I keep getting emails today with feedback about what I did wrong. And I *do* want to know when (for example) my stupid typo made it into print so that I'm more careful (although, seriously, we have proofreaders -- I used to be one! -- so I hope they all got emailed about this, too). But I really don't see the point of emailing me a marked-up PDF and prefacing it with "I know in most of these cases, comma placement is subjective, but you may want to review this." Well shit, if it's subjective, and I change my comma placement to match this proofreader, will I just get another email when a *different* proofreader doesn't like my subjective commas? (And I didn't even mention to her that when I was proofreading I got explicitly told to not change subjective things like commas and only change definitively wrong things [like typos, hello]. But apparently it's okay if this proofreader does change all the damn commas?)

Dislike. Considering new career as a village idiot.
