So, I just helped a guy looking for newspaper articles about his own conviction for murder. In 1972, but still.
Holy crap, flea! That's freaky.
That sounds like a story.
See, flea? You are totally law librarian material! That wouldn't be a strange story in my circle, but a box to be ticked.
I guess what was odd was the sense I got that it was something he was nostalgic about. He didn't proclaim his innocence or anything. He was especially looking for an article with a photo, like he was proud of having been in the paper (for his arrest on capital murder charges.)
Oh man.
He did something noteworthy. The world noticed him. Not for a good reason, but for a while he was not a nobody. From what I understand, that can be a driving force in some minds that commit crimes.
The phrase "Besides, the wench is dead" seems entirely too apt.
Okay, so I've just come off of possibly the worst couple of weeks of my work life, to the point that I am really questioning how long I can do this role as currently constituted, and had a call scheduled with my outgoing boss this morning to kind of lay it on the line.
Which meeting was cancelled. But incoming boss reached out to me and ran through some changes she plans to put in and, man. If I can just survive the fallout from the past few weeks and she gets her plans underway, a lot of what is killing me gets better. I really, really hope this happens, and fast.
It'll be really hard, taking on a lot more and probably having to build up a new team (she has a new role in my for my A#1 team member, which he deserves), but should really make a big difference in my work life.
That would be great, brenda. I hope it pans out. And quickly.
