Oh, right - add 4 hour commute to work this morning to my productivity. I get credit for not throat punching anyone at the airport, right?

Not Squatters? Or is Squatters not the "in" place to be anymore? (I don't get to SLC for dining very often, ie, once every few years)
$47 is quite the shipping charge. You are very kind, zuisa.
Head-scratcher work e-mail exchange from today:
Me: "I received both of your communications today about the dates. All that I know right now is that these three won't work. When I know which ones will, I will let you know."
Responder: "Thanks. Do these two dates [that you just said you didn't know about yet] work?"
...WHAT DID I JUST SAY?
In closing, the Salt-N-Pepa GEICO ad makes me smile every time.
Well, there was no blood in the meeting room, but developer lead just grunted at me when I asked if his head developer made it out alive.
It was a classic debate. The software engineer has one idea of what is right, and he's not wrong, from an engineering standpoint. But with the system we have, what the end user needs is not the logic of good engineering. I get it. In this case, the aesthetics do matter more than adhering to internally consistent logic. So we have to make the engineers miserable over what they think is cosmetic. (You really confuse and piss off a user community if you aggressively warn them they can't have something they didn't ask for. Also, if you give them something they didn't ask for and can't use. And we're 20+ years into a system schema that wasn't designed for what we've made it do, decisions made so beyond our control,so SHOEHORN! Thus we have these issues.)
One more fucking day.
I'm counting down my day of medium-fun things after work, when all I really want to do is hunker down. Tonight I bought some insurance, ate mussels, and drank wine with my broker. I don't know that I've ever actually had mussels! NB: They are delicious. Or at least the sauce was.
My prospective employers haven't gotten back to me or the recruiter, so I don't start tomorrow. We have no idea what's going on.
I also got my STB old HSA number to fill out the form to transfer it to the new. Which will be so much easier. Will fax tomorrow. And fuck, I didn't realize how much I had in there. Should cover all dental expenses this year and maybe the next. Of course, had the old been easier to use, would've used the $$ for this year's.... I know I could still submit them, but uhg.
Didn't make it online yesterday, so a very belated thank you for the condolences.
Also, w/r/t to poetry memorization, I have a few things cold, but the one that sticks all the time is W.H. Auden's Funeral Blues. I tend to hear it in John Hannah's voice, too: [link]
Ugh, ita, that's a bummer.
I just realized I should have gotten the Serial notebook for my cousin, but I think I've already spent enough money on her!
I hope it gets sorted favorably, ita.
Southwest sent me 4 free booze coupons. Whee, I'll abuse them on the short flights this Xmas. This Friday!
