My dad joined the Navy very near the end of WWII, signed up for flight school, and then the war ended. So they kicked him out of the training program he was in and put him on a troop ship to Japan to bring soldiers back.

He got the GI bill out of it, and never had to fight, which I'm fine with.

I should probably warn you all - I am switching from wine to hot chocolate laced with Bailey's. Whatever sense-making I have managed thus far may well be at an end. But the fire is, as the song says, so delightful.

Oooh, I specifically impulse-bought gingerbread-man Peeps last week to put in hot chocolate. AND Peeps that are allegedly hot chocolate-flavored and dipped in white fudge. They are still hanging out on top of the fridge. Maybe I should make some hot chocolate...

My tailbone has been hurting all day (it didn't hurt when I went to bed last night, but it hurt when I woke up -- HOW did I hurt my tailbone while I slept), but maybe a shot of Bailey's in some hot chocolate will help. Can't hurt, right?

Cookies made include chocolate chip, chewy chocolate snowtops, bacon fat gingersnaps, chocolate gobs, butterscotch haystacks, peanut butter chocolate kisses.
