Cherry is my favorite flavor, but for some reason I didn't eat it for a very long time. Probably because of all the fake flavors out there. But then I decided to have a slice of pie, and I remembered how wonderful it is.
I also like Lemon Meringue and Key Lime. And pumpkin. And apple.
mmm, key lime pie is my second favorite.
Timelies all!
Apple pie is good, as is key lime and lemon meringue. I haven't had pumpkin pie in years, because Gary's mom doesn't like it.
I had a really good chocolate pie once, but it was a semi-sweet chocolate, none of this whipped cream and chocolate shavings and chocolate or caramel syrup people want to pour over everything. Kind of floury, dense, so wonderful.
Well, I royally fucked up the thing I've been working on most of the day. Awesome. Fortunately it's not really going to impact anyone else, but I am going to be here late fixing it.
I have recruiters coming out my ears on linked, but not the kind you need. They just incessantly contact anyone with my job title in their resume and suggest other jobs.
I think in the whole time I've been using LinkedIn--which is ages at this point--I've had three recruiters contact me, and of those, only one ever got back to me after I responded. I suspect my weirdly MS job titles never really registered with them.
I've got an open query out to my local networking group about how the hell they manage it, because I know there are at least a couple of people who've done the same stuff I did, but thus far, crickets.
What jobs do those people have now?
Things at work I hate: training that involves a recorded voice reading out the stuff on a slide...and I can't forward to the next one until the audio stops. But I have to manually forward so I can't competely check out. Ugh!
Ahaha. I accidentally RSVP'd to an Downton Abbey Meet the Cast Event at the Manhattan Apple Store next week and now I am filled with rue that I cannot go.
In better news, my Xmas tree will be here in about 90 minutes. And the old guy who runs my Xmas tree lot is so, so sweet. He makes me all verklempt.
I'm looking in different areas than you, PMM, and I'm still unemployed five months on, so I probably wouldn't be helpful. I ran into some "chat once or twice a year" people at a Friends' Thanksgiving dinner, which led to a job application and a request for work samples this morning. I also have an interview for a job at a local university this Friday, which is kind of unexpected, actually. The U is notoriously slow at calling people in.
In other news, I had my checking account temporarily wiped out by someone who stole my debit card info. 44 separate charges to Shutterstock, not all of which my account could cover. Luckily Shutterstock noticed something was weird and put everything back. But there are still about $450 in charges to places like Starbucks (someone added money to a card online, over and over) that I'll be disputing. My credit union isn't charging me any overage fees, and they cancelled the card in question. Still it was quite the surprise this afternoon.
