We are watching The Heat, which is surprisingly funny. The plot is completely moronic, but Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock are great.

Oh, yes, Kat. The Heat is faaabulous.
One of the things I love about it is that Sandra Bullock is my age, and they admit that. There's no attempt to convince the audience that she's under 40.
And it passes the Bechdel test with flying covers, yes!
How scary, Consuela, I'd be shaking.

Agreed on all counts.
I am taking my kids to class with me tomorrow. I am hoping that it all goes well and that they aren't too bored, although right now I am more worried about my student presentations going well. My kids I know can be well behaved for 2 1/2 hours.
Oh yay, people are losing their jobs at work today. This has been coming a while - we got news about a departmental re-organization a couple of months ago, and I am not in any danger. But it's not a fun morning. And Thanksgiving week is a swell time to pick to tell people.
Not fun, flea.
Wow, Consuela. I'm glad you got the tag. That is the reason I crawl along on the beach road rather than the I. If someone is going to smash into me I would rather it was at 25 than 75. It takes me 45 min to get to work rather than 30, but waves are more pleasant than the anxiety of highway driving.
Yikes, flea. And yeah, that's a shitty time to lay people off. Especially since nobody's hiring in December anyway--at least, not public entities IME.
Thanks, Laura. I'm really glad I got the plate, and hope they catch the person. I almost think it was intentional, it all happened so fast and then the car took the off-ramp like no big deal, even used their blinkers.
I didn't sleep well last night, but I think it was my sister's espresso pudding for dessert rather than the excitement of the crash.
That sucks, flea. It's not like there's a good time to lose one's job, though.
My car won't start, so, working from home today. The battery doesn't like the cold (it's not even freezing, though maybe it was overnight. Pernickety battery) and I forgot to charge the portable jumper thingy. I hope once I get that charged up again I'll be able to jump my car and this isn't a symptom of bigger problems that need to be addressed.
That' terrible , Flea.
Glad you got the plate, Consuela
How old is your battery ,-t? it might just be time for a new one.
Pretty sure it's less than a year old.
ETA: oh, hey, I keep those records on my phone. it's just over a year, got it last November. Even the cheap batteries are supposed to be good for 3 years, aren't they?
