I bet you'll have a lot of airport runs.

I've been thinking of you with all the uber stuff in the news. Hope you have a good experience with them.
Yeah, every time I see Uber in a headline I think "hope that isn't bad news for Theo"
Glad the surgery went well for TNG. Too bad about the dysplasia, hope the supplements can help - really seemed to do my brother's dog a lot of good when he took them.
I decided to splurge on a gingerbread latte (because it's raining? The justification is not fully thought out) and they had a little sign by the drive through speaker saying they had old-fashioned doughnuts which sounded great so I got one of those, too. Sadly, I don't think my tastebuds are as happy as the rest of my body is displeased. Oh well, now I know.
Salt Lake City is having trouble with the Uber and Lyft people, because those companies keep saying "We're innovative! We're new! The regulations regarding ground transportation companies shouldn't apply to us! If you don't let us ignore city regulations, we're going to tell everyone that Salt Lake City doesn't like fresh, innovative business plans." Which most people are taking to mean "We're hip and cool and your fuddy-duddy rules don't apply to us." It doesn't help they started up business in town without applying for a business license and ran illegally for six months.
We had that, too. I was kind of rooting for them for a while. Now, not so much.
Yeah, I'm definitely keeping an eye on the news about Uber, and preparing to hold my nose, if the system works in my favor (i.e. I get enough fares to stretch out my depleted savings).
I feel that it is safer than straight-up taxi driving, in that the bar for using it is owning a smartphone and being tech-savvy enough to use it -- and knowing that cash isn't going to change hands ought to select out the people who'd rob you and/or leave the cab without paying.

I'd say it's not so much that as the fact that there are no anonymous rides - you have to have provided credit info.
From my understanding it's a generally great experience for both riders and drivers, but there are some ginormous tools at the top who are drunk on their own Kool-Aid.

They're coming across in Salt Lake as obnoxious hipsters.
It's what I can't help but think of as the Uber Gamergate Crossover Event that bothers me. But they might still be good to work for, that happens.
Totally, both those things.
