I would, of course, love to see NYCistas, though I will have a large posse what with the 4 of us, my brother and his fiance, and probably my mother and maybe my sister. We're talking about being in the city Deb 27-Jan 1, and our list of to-dos so far is your basic Manhattan tourism for children - Natural History, probably the Met (Dillo just read From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler) and I really want to go to the Cloisters; maybe skating.

My brother who has lived in Manhattan for more than 5 years does, in fact, own a car. It is sitting in my sister's driveway in Dorchester, because he never got around to selling it when he moved back to New York. @@ On the plus side, we borrow it every summer when we go to Cape Cod, which beats rental prices! We do always check to make sure he's remembered to pay the registration first.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That sounds fun, flea. Probably hectic, but fun.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I love going to NYC between Christmas and New Year's -- this year, I'm passing through on my way to PA, but I should really spend some time, at least to look at windows!

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I used up all my motivation when I got out of bed this morning and now I have none.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I'm right there with you, shrift. I have zero motivation but an article with a deadline. These are incompatible realities.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

You guys, this is really weird. I was checking my bank account and it was higher than expected. I went into PeopleSoft and looked at Comp History and apparently I got a raise? A month ago? That no one told me about and is out of cycle with our usual? And it's almost five percent.

I'm almost afraid to ask.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I will probably be in Boston that week visiting family, but if we're in town at the same time and our schedules line up I would love to meet up.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Connie, territorial issues with cats can be hard to resolve. I'd try getting another litter box and cleaning them both twice a day. Does Other Cat have his own usual place to sleep at night? Why is he suddenly vying with Shadow for sleeping on your bed?

That...sounds nice, Brenda? But also hate if it's a mistake and gets taken away!

I am working 18 days between now and January 5. Only two full 5 day weeks.

Jealous. Though I am taking the full week at Thanksgiving.

So here's a question: my new project, the company that hired us is based in Seattle. So they want to meet me for lunch or coffee just to get to know each other. (it's a pretty small project so I'm the only person in my role, except one other woman in Australia). What do I wear?? I mean, normally when I'm at sites I wear nice end of business casual, dresses or slacks and a blouse and cardigan. But this is a work from home day. I'd feel a bit weird getting dressed up (and this IS Seattle which is super chill), but I think jeans might be too casual.
