On my seventh birthday, I wanted a toy fire truck, and I didn't get it, and you were real nice about it, and then the house next door burnt down, and then real firetrucks came, and for years I thought you set the fire for me. And if you did, you can tell me!

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

I haven't either. I guess I am oblivious.

This AVClub review is all about the differences in animation between S1 and S2: [link] (spoilers for the last episode)

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Wow. That article pretty much nails it (and I never would have paid attention to the blinking before.)

I actually liked this episode quite a bit.

Kind of disappointed to find out that Unalaq is just a straight-up bad guy and Korra's attacking the judge on the road seemed a little overzealous, but all-in-all it was enjoyable.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I know that this whole show is supposed to be about Korra learning to be an adult, but she does seem to have to learn the same lessons over and over. Don't trust people who benefit from associating from you and who compliment you a lot, until they have proven they should be trusted!

Also, that trial, what we saw of it, was so obviously bullshit.

I begin to think that what the Four Kingdoms need is an independent press.

Also, who is the President of the United Kingdoms? Have we heard of her/him before?

I think we see the president being sworn in in the S2 opening montage.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Anyway, as I mentioned in the voting thread, the new Korra episodes are a downgrade, animation-wise, from last seasons.

Emmett mentioned right away when he saw the new season: "The animation looks different."

I'm mostly concerned with Korra that they immediately went into inter-brother politics AGAIN after last season. Jesus Fucking Christ - as if nobody learned from the stupid exposition fest of the Star Wars prequels. They have horribly overthought their world and missed the story. Three episodes in and they were each less than memorable. I know they'll pull the story together eventually but this was a shit start.

ION, we're all anxiously awaiting the return of Gravity Falls which seems to have upped its game considerably with the season finale, going for a Big Arc Continuity that could vastly expand their storylines. With X-Files and Twin Peaks as our cautionary examples I hope they have a solid book on where they're going.

Also, I'm sad Rebecca Sugar left Adventure Time as I think she's close to heart of the show BUT I am really excited about her new show Steven Universe, AND the back half of this season of Adventure Time was still really strong with some very intriguing (and/or disturbing) shows.

I, too, was worried about how Rebecca Sugar leaving the show, but Adventure Time has been killing it lately, and The Vault would make my top five list.

It was so good!

I really need to revisit this season. So many great eps and not just the ones I expected to be great like Marcy and Simon, or Bad Little Boy. I really loved James Baxter, The Horse and Be More.

Has anyone else seen the web series RWBY?

I started watching it because someone on another forum linked to the "Red" trailer [link] which is incredibly well put-together visually and musically (Warning: Sort-of graphic violence. Lots of death and dismemberment, but it's very stylized.) which led me to the "White" trailer [link] which was almost as good (and less bloody). The other two trailers ("Black" and "Yellow") have some really cool fight scenes, but don't have much else going for them.

I was really excited about the series at first, but I'm personally finding it very hit or miss (and more-often miss) as it goes on. The animation and art is kind of laughably rough, but considering it's a group of people with retail animation software, it's kind of understandable. The director has a great hand and eye for action sequences (the fights at the beginning of the first episode are excellent) and at times it can be genuinely, hilariously funny, but most of the time it's just kind of there.

The sad thing is there's a lot of potential. Episode 8 [link] is almost consistently good and has some incredibly epic moments. But the three episodes since then have been really blah (and stupidly short. Like 3 minutes each, including opening and closing credits.)

I'm also finding myself liking some of the secondary characters (Nora and Pyrrha) a lot better than the primary four, which isn't helping.

Pretty interesting.

Nope, but now I'm going to check it out.
