Animation 1: I'm Not Bad, I'm Just Drawn That Way
A thread to discuss television and online animation.
Adventure Time Primer.
I prefer "Another Ten episodes to the ones they picked. I would never start anybody off with "A Glitch Is A Glitch."
And I think "Into the Nightosphere" and "What Was Missing" are key episodes. Plus the whole storyline with the Lich is powerful and had a huge cliffhanger.
When I go look through DeviantArt and I find realistic depictions of the characters I'm always struck by how incredibly horrific Finn's circumstances really are, and tragic.
Yeah, the show is actually quite dark, and getting darker. They've been dropping less and less subtle hints about how Princess Bubblegum might be evil for a while now. I wonder if her getting her amulet back might be the catalyst for something.
On the other hand, one of my favorite episodes, Shhh!, isn't dark at all. BMO! Bikini Babes! Cool music!
I watched the most recent Korra. Why is she so stupid?
Seriously, if you’re not watching Adventure Time, it’s a way better show than you think it is.
I saw Adventure Time slippers in a store yesterday, and waved them at Tim and said "This is a show we should be watching."
Tim: "A show...about slippers?"
Me: "Yes. A show about slippers. And the feet that get shoved in them."
This season of Korra is not what I hoped for from being titled Spirits.
I've heard so many good things about Adventure Time but I just don't like the art. I don't think I can get past that.

The art, and the sense of the humor in the assorted commercials I've seen is very much not my thing.
But yeah, it takes a lot for me to get past art I don't care for. (Which is why it took strong encouragement from a huge Spidey-fan co-worker to give Spectacular Spider-man a try back in the day, and I put off reading Scott Pilgrim for so long.)

With Korra sidelined, I’m glad to see that Mako was there to pick up the slack of making REALLY STUPID DECISIONS.
REALLY STUPID DECISIONS.
Indeed. Everyone in this episode made really stupid decisions, though. Except possibly for Verek, who's being very smart. I am a dope for not guessing about him, though, even after he announced that only an idiot can't make money during a war.
I loved the amnesia bit at the end, though: that'll be fun. And it might help Korra address some of her more, um, boisterous characteristics.
