Rebecca Sugar to write and direct a Moomins movie.
Animation 1: I'm Not Bad, I'm Just Drawn That Way
A thread to discuss television and online animation.
I am extremely excited about this! Although I have been afraid to reread Moomin stuff because my memories of it are very fond but also very vague (although the bits and pieces that pop up on social media make me think I should not be afraid, but still)
Oh, neat!
The first three episodes of The Mighty Nein were good (though they're going dark right away with some stuff.) Very different from the start of the Actual Play but I actually like most of the changes. They're tightening up some character arcs and seem to be setting up a more logical progression to where things up. (Which makes sense, since we as viewers have different story expectations from an actual scripted media than we do from an improvised story with dice.)
Lots of wailing and gnashing of teeth from some parts of fandom about some of the changes. But that's pretty much expected for any adaptation.
I’m enjoying The Mighty Nein. I didn’t watch the Actual Play, so I had no particular expectations going in.
The Mighty Nein campaign was probably my favorite of the three APs they've done so far, so I'm really enjoying seeing it come to life, even if its very different in parts.
I think Molly and Beau have gotten the biggest glow ups from AP to series. Early Beau was very aimless and overall unpleasant, so I'm liking them giving her a goal and a bit more heart right away and Molly was very inconsistent (as was his accent) until Taliesin found his groove with the character.
Regarding episode 4, Fjord wanting to Nope Out from anything horror-coded will never not be funny to me. Travis Willingham is built like an action hero but is also a big baby when it comes to horror, which I can empathize with so his/Fjord 's reaction to those situations are always entertaining.
Mighty Nein 1x05:
I knew what was coming and I'm still not okay. Jesus Christ. Frumpkin in the window killed me .
