A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I have a colleague here who refuses to use pain meds during dentistry.

I HATE needles, but I've had so many surgeries that I just grit and bear it. But I want ALL THE DRUGS when I'm getting a crown or a root canal. A filling -- a little Novocaine and I'm ok.

When I had my wisdom teeth taken out in 91, I had an old-school orthodontic surgeon, and he had me connected to a morphine drip. AWESOME. He gave me gas because I was REALLY bad about needles, less experience then, and then popped in the IV and next thing I remember, my Grandpa was steering my loopy ass out the door.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

When the shoulder goes nuclear it's just bone resting on nerve (hey, Steph!) and I hold my breath for as long as I can. Being dizzy never doesn't distract me from pain as long as I pay attention to no deep breaths to compensate and not die. I will feel like I'm at a nine, but then I will lean back or otherwise shift position and feel the pain rocket what must be two or three points and the crying starts again (it also starts if I have to read or talk or otherwise brain). It's appallingly ludicrous. And annual.

It used to take one procedure to take it from "damn that hurts and makes headaches worse" to "annoying, don't touch that", but now it's two procedures to get from "please kill me, I don't have the range of motion to do it myself" to "I seem to recall this not being as bad as before, right? Do I have notes I can refer to?"

Which is a fucking shame. I was supposed to be having the procedure on my right neck/shoulder this morning actually. Fuck that! I need another on my left! Yes, I'm diagnosed with the problem on both sides, but the right side is a constant 3. I can use the shoulder for hanging things off of, the arm has full range of motion, and I don't let anyone touch the trigger points. Totally manageable without medication.

YOU HAVE TO DO THE LEFT SIDE AGAIN. Especially since my migraine doctor is now medicating it with anti-depressants and not painkillers. That's what I'll be telling the pain guy in next week's appointment. AND SOON. Because bitches will get bitched at.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

OK- this 70's Lite Rock station is very informative. I just found out that the guy who plays "Ridge" on Bold and the Beautiful was the bass player for the band (Player) who sings 'Baby Come Back'. Weird.

Because books.

Oh, "Baby, Come Back"! I used to love that song.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

The pain when I had my wisdom teeth out wasn't that bad. He gave me a shot first, and Vicodin after, and the worst I felt was a dull ache.

Probably the worst pain I've felt was a few years ago, when I partially dislocated my hip while I was sleeping. I probably rolled over on it wrong. I woke up feeling fine, but then tried to move that leg and practically screamed in pain. It was at a 7, maybe approaching 8. I was at a conference that weekend, so I had to walk around. I used a cane and a whole lot of meds, rested when I could, and used the hotel whirlpool a whole lot, to get it down to maybe a 6, which was good enough for being able to go to at least some sessions of the conference and get food.

brillig

Worst pain was having my sinuses packed for that aneurysm in the sinus cavity. I was already on painkillers from earlier in the night, but I was still being held down and nearly groined a nurse that was too close in front of me. I don't remember much of the next two days. I'm very grateful for that.

I hope this doesn't sound like a pain variant of "walked to school uphill both ways barefoot in the snow."

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

My day is being quite frustrating. I am in a cycle of getting messages like:

Other Person: "We cannot do month-end closing because we are getting this error on one of your shipments." (SCREENSHOT)

Me: OK, I have never seen that screen before, what is the issue and how to I go about fixing it?

OP: I do not know, but it needs to be fixed.

--------------------------

Other Other Person: Here is an invoice.

Me: Am I supposed to process this for payment?

OOP: I don't know, am just making sure I send it to you.

Me: We do not get any other invoices via email, why this one?

OOP: ......

My boss is missing and we have a meeting in 8 that I have no agenda for. ::flail::

I have discovered that my favourite conversational phrase with him is "Already done." My target is once a day, and I'm...already done.

Wow. I cannot remember anything in krav or most of my martial arts hurting particularly badly. Like, getting hit hard enough to see stars isn't fun, as isn't getting a foot lodged up your vulva or a bruise re-opened for the n+1th time, but aside from the knee injury I got training for a karate tournament (yes, exactly--when have you ever heard me talk about karate or tournaments) which ended up lasting years until a psycho PT got ahold of it, it was merely unpleasant and didn't crest past a five.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I'd say I have a pretty high pain tolerance. My personal 10 was the ruptured ovarian cyst, which superseded the staph infection in my knee that caused my leg to swell to twice its normal size. Knee surgery was way up there. My three months on a chemo called Taxol consisted of one week out of every three spent in a painkiller haze, wandering up and down the hall because that was less painful than lying down. I met a woman once whose Taxol bone pain didn't slack off between treatments, which was one of the more horrifying things I ever heard. The bone mets are no picnic, but the treatments have taken the pain down nagging discomfort and I do have the good drugs.

I don't think any of this compares with ita's dealing with month after month of pain. Pain wears you down.

you should recontact psycho PT about your shoulders, no?
