'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Mostly I'd just keep my lip buttoned, but I wanted to see how far the guy would take it. It certainly exposed some flaws in his thinking.

But not being in my own topic (it was Bruce Coville's topic, and the troll started the argument when Bruce mentioned he'd be saving $300/mo under the Obamacare health exchange) perhaps I really shouldn't have, but damn when somebody is being that stoooopid....

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

There is a dating site for the admirers of the publications of Ayn Rand.

Next step: Objectivist Singles Bars. Then they can leave the rest of us alone.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

A garden club had rented the house for a meeting/workshop, and I opened the house for them and pointed out where the tables and chairs were, and the finance administrator later pulled out the projector screen for them and the two ladies setting up seemed quite happy. But after the whole thing was over, the one lady who was supposed to help them set up but showed up late complained about how there had been no staff to set up and that it had been agreed that we would do it for them and that the space was too small.

My theory is that, since she dropped the ball, she transferred the blame to us. She even got our ED involved. Meanwhile, all the ladies breaking down and cleaning up were all "we're fine! This was lovely!" while whiny lady is all "we're big donors and we don't think we'll be renting this facility again". When in fact, for their hundred dollar membership, they get one free rental, and if they'd come off the street to rent, they would have needed a membership fee plus several hundred more for the six hours they rented the place. Bite me, garden club lady.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

She probably thinks she can get another freebie if she complains enough.

brillig

Managers often cave to people like that. I've had my managers do that for customers complaining after violating policies that it's the front line tech's job to enforce. It's very frustrating.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

But I'll get banned.

You can't get banned from IO9. Trust me.

Anyone want to lay odds on whether or not my heat will be on when I get home? It wasn't when I left this morning.
