Standard deviation of 13 seconds means that nearly everyone takes between 8 and 34 seconds, though, right?
If the distribution follows a bell curve, about two thirds of everyone. However, if I'm reading this right, they're saying that the average time for almost every species is 21 seconds. They all tend to cluster around the same point. The standard deviation is within each species, not between the averages for each species.
