I just think it's rather odd that a nation that prides itself on its virility should feel compelled to strap on forty pounds of protective gear just in order to play rugby.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

This is my third or fourth email to the neuro (via his admin) since the last one I posted:

s there a timeline on this? All that happens between now and the nerve block on Thursday is that the pain gets worse, and then Thursday it will get much worse before it gets better. Is there a reason the only vaguely manageable contributor to my headaches (never mind the pain I'm experiencing from the shoulder itself--that is not inconsiderable) is being ignored? It seems counterproductive and counterintuitive and I'm curious about it.

I know I'll have extreme shoulder pain Thursday afternoon. I know this will make my headache even worse. I know I have no recommended rescue protocol.

Why?

She's reached out to him, and hopes they can get back to him before Thursday. REALLY?? The way these procedures work, they irritate the fuck out of the area, and the pain doc agrees that for all this is bad enough to need fixing, it will be worse Thursday for as long as a week. But according to his agreement with the neuro, he can't prescribe me anything but topical.

And I can't get in to see the neuro before the 31st, so this is how we talk.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Thorin Puppetshield,

This totally made my day. Thank you!!

ita, I really wish you lived in DC so you could be my Mom's patient/client. (She manages a neuro office at GWU right now, but plans to quit so she can work full time as a healthcare advocate for patients with chronic illness. She specializes in pain management, loves yelling at doctors, and hates stupid hospital bureaucracy.)

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

! ita ! It sounds like a good cluesticking is not even the beginning of what they need.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Right now, I will chip in $10 for your mom to freelance and yell at ita !'s neuro. No response? I would be fucking livid.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Sox,

Gary and I will be at Philcon, if that's what you're asking. He's probably on the filk/music track. (I didn't ask.) I kept meaning to e-mail you to see if you'd be there, but didn't quite get there.

She could phone it in, right? Well, maybe face to face is most effective.

As satisfying as the yelling would be for all parties concerned, I think someone familiar with LA hospitals might be more effective.

I didn't mean to kill the thread! Come back, and I'll get my mom to yell at anyone you want! Promise!

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I am cleaning! And taking lots of sitting down/leg up breaks. Did my first load of dishes, and am out of dish detergent. I suppose if I'd done any dishes in the past three weeks I would have noticed this. Having a chest cold for two weeks and now being gimpy has enabled my slovenly habits tenfold, good grief.

I am back on a requirements gathering roll. I love this feeling, and I love working with this team. Despite the land mines that await us both.
