Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I don't think there was a note, but there are a lot of details I don't know yet. The friend I talked to didn't mention a note, but given the circumstances of her life recently, and what we know of her death, he's sure she killed herself.
She had entered an inpatient treatment facility several months ago for help with her mental illnesses (depression, OCD, possibly others); at the time, I assumed it was just a short-term thing, and I even thought (or wanted to believe) that it was a positive thing for her to be seeking help in that way. She was apparently still living there when she died, so I'm guessing that her problems were proving difficult to treat.
That's rough, Kate.
CAT scan contrast dye is the one thing I've had a frightening and very quick reaction to—difficulty breathing that felt like increasing pressure from immersion in water, followed by projectile vomiting when that let up a few minutes later. (Though I've had a merely annoying case of hives in response to amoxycillin after a few days on it.)
I'm so sorry, Kate. Suicide is always so hard on those left behind.
I hadn't thought of an allergy to the dye, thanks for mentioning that. I'll suggest it to our other sister. I know my sister developed an allergy to tape with this illness, so other allergies developing isn't out of the question.
Dammit, "We Can't Stop." I already had it in my head this morning, and now I just watched this a capella version with The Roots.
I have successfully applied for unemployment. I think. That was a byzantine process.
Burell, I forget what the dyes are made of, but allergic reactions are not uncommon. I'm not sure how they avoid it if benadryl didn't work, though.
It is small, but I am pleased with myself today for remembering to cancel a Dr. appt I cannot make and cancelling 3 months of auto delivery meds that I am overstocked on. One saves agita and one saves money. I am all for saving such things.
ION - I would very much like to have all the sleep. I think I am going to have to start training my cats to sleep outside of my room and that will be some loud annoying nights to achieve. I am thinking of wearing headphones attached to my white noise/alarm clock.
ita_!, I hope that is a sufficient wake up call for the neuro.
Kate, I'm sorry for your friend, and for all who cared about her.
I'm so sorry, Kate
Best of luck with treatment, ita and sister of Burrell
I just wanted to pop in with the minor triumph that my (handwritten today specific) to do list is half crossed off. That hasn't happened in quite a while!
I got all my non-work to-dos that were marked today done! I brought in (old) coffee for one co-worker, Firefly DVDs for another, was ready to return a loaned hard drive to another.
Why can't I get into the habit of prepping the night before more often? I just grabbed the bag and left today, and didn't even remember what I'd done until I got into the office.
Okay, onto the ickier stuff like insurance reimbursements, ebill paying, and oh, more WORK.
