If you beat them on the shutdown it then becomes easy to beat them on the debt ceiling. Use some of the absurd workarounds Obama objects to get around the absurd practice of authorizing running up bills then refusing to authorize paying them.
Platinum coin. (Completely legal. And if the Feds follow through on their refusal to accept the coin, they are violating the law and the executive can use its power to force them to accept it.) If Obama is too gutless for that confrontation:
The Treasury (which is under direct orders of the President) could issue Consols. Consols are bonds which pay interest indefinitely and don't require the government to every repay principle. Interest does not count under the debt ceiling, so the Treasury could issue as many Consols as they want without violating the ceiling. No constitutional issue. The Treasury already has statuatory authority to issue any bonds not in violation of any law.
I don't know why Obama refuses to use these. Maybe he will if he has to, but thinks it would be better to make the Republicans back down if can. Or maybe he hopes to finally get the Social Security cutting "Grand Bargain" the Republicans turned out previously cause even thought it would hurt poor people it would not hurt them enough. I want to think better of him and that it is the first rather than the second. But there is absolutely no reason to let the Republicans use the debt ceiling as leverage for anything.
I am putting things on my widhlist tonight. (Yes, bourbon and the recliner and fb games are NOT enough, I need to fake shop also). DO people have recs on new gps?
Owen tries to convince other kids to watch movies based on the film's Rotten Tomatoes ratings.
I am not quite freaking yet but I fear for folks like the Fleas. I just don't want Obama to risk 230 years' of democratic principles because of the crazed actions of a tiny, insane minority.

If you have a smartphone, Waze is the way to go.
If you want a dedicated device, I used to love my TomTom until I started using Waze. (TomTom still has a better display - the 3D view with lane guidance is better than any app I've seen - but it gives shitty directions. So Waze is better for city driving.)
Uhg, I epoxxied a fridge drawer and forgot how much epoxxy stinks. And too warm and muggy outside to open up the windows.
Today was a pain. Truly. Nothing would touch it.
Welp, that's the end of last year's Halloween candy. That's almost like an accomplishment.
I don't know from GPSs.
The government shutdown is too big for me to hold in my head.
I would like a drink now, but I'm afraid that would be the end of me being awake. Maybe that would be okay? Probably I should stay up until it gets dark, at least...
I also got 33/36 on the Reading Emotions quiz. I'm a little surprised.
I liked my new TomTom better than my old Garmin. I'd still rather use a standalone GPS than the one on my smartphone if I can, solely because it runs down the battery so fast.
