It's Coldstream-Homestead-Montebello. The U is...gratuitous?
Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I will simply repeat here what I said on Facebook last night. FUCK YOU HOUSE GOP.
I was living in DC during the last government shutdown, and it was rough. At least this time we're unlikely to have a blizzard in the middle of it, I guess.
sarameg, is there a University around there somewhere?
Of course, if there is notorious drug-making and -selling going on there, it could be called CHEM instead....
I love my husband, I do...but I just mentioned that since we have to start preparing for M to come for winter break, we HAVE to know excatly what's been going on in these motions/countermotions from July (no hearing, no hearing set) and get a mediation date set up.
He's all, "Mediation's set for 10/11, I told you that."
Sweet tones: "No, last you told me, a month or so ago, was that you'd left a message on the mediator's VM. So, what have you prepped?"
"Um, what's to prep?
:headdeskheaddeskheaddesk:
Nah, the U ends up there in the pronunciation. C-H-M becomes 'chum.' And it has some rough sections.
Last shutdown held my passport hostage just before I was leaving the country. I'm of the view it is a very poor way to govern...
One of my friends adopted a little boy from Korea last year, and the shutdown is delaying him becoming a US citizen. At least that's something where a few days or weeks delay won't really matter too much.
The Daily Beast talked with Pete King, one of only six Republicans to vote against the shutdown (the article - I don't know whether this is the journalist's description or King's - describes the other five as one moderate and four Tea Partiers who felt the Cruz faction wasn't crazy enough); King personally spent most of yesterday, right until midnight, collaring practically every single wobbly, persuadable-looking R he could find and trying to talk them back down off the cliff; he said that John Boehner would pounce on them as soon as he stepped back, pull them out of earshot and start whispering, and then they'd slink off and avoid him the rest of the night. Bloody fuckin' hell.
I am so, so sorry for that cheeto-colored fucknut from my state.
I'm just hoping the shutdown goes badly enough for House Republicans that they won't make us default on our debt as well. Because that would be a hundred times worse than a shutdown.
I think the debt limit will be reached around the 17th?
I think the debt limit will be reached around the 17th?
The debt limit bullshit actually makes me the angriest. It's not for future spending; it's to cover spending that was already done on things that this bunch of fuckneck Congress members ALREADY APPROVED.
RAAAAAAAAAAGE.
