I saw a little red bug crawling up my book page, so I smished it by closing the book. Now I'm paranoid that it was a bedbug, and I should have captured it to make a better identification.
Please let it just be a small beetle.

Bedbugs are not red and would not be out in the day unless you just brought it into the house, or you had a really really bad infestation.
The little red bugs are clovermites, and they come in in the spring and fall. They love the sunlight and don't bite.

She's allergic, is half the problem. And hates pets, is the other half. This is why my only childhood pet was a gerbil!
I.. I... I ...- poop!
Jesse, get a whole Habitrail of gerbils!
She did grow to like Homer (because he was the best), so I could imagine some scenario where I do end up with a cat (a friend can't keep it or something), but for now, I'm sure it's going to be a no.
