Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Re: The Price is Right:
I submitted an article to an economics magazine. The article's title is "The Price is Wrong". The editor responded within an hour of submission saying that there would be a long process before deciding whether to accept or not, but they already had a consensus on one point. If they do accept the article the title will be set in a "groovy 70's font".
Five interviews?!? That is bananas.
It's nuts, and I have taken a not-insignificant amount of time off from my actual current job for them. (OK, two of them were earlier in the summer when I was applying for a slightly different position at the same place, but it's still a lot of time to spend talking to the same people!) I feel like I have a really good shot at this, but it will depend on who else I'm up against. Man, I really want this job, though.
One day, I will look my age for more than a day or two at a time. That day will be sad.
I am pretty sure that I'm not being a great parent to my kids right now. Loving, yes. Supportive, yes. But also pretty short tempered these days, and I know that they need patience.
Have you told them that you're trying, but you sometimes are so worried that you don't have as much patience as usual? Kid's are pretty forgiving and resilient.

She's 41, and to me the idea that there's an objective distinction between 41 and 44 worth getting emotional about is beyond me. But she also wants to limit her expressions to lessen wrinkling, though Botox is off the table. So it's not a mindset I've explored (in any way, I guess, since I'd get Botox again for the headaches, but I hate the idea of limiting expressions).

I have, Plei. I just... worry.
"I'd be *wounded* if you told me I looked 44!"
Silly lady. If you don't want to hear the answer, don't ask the question.
Or Google.
Oh, dude, you are lucky if you only have five interviews.
I am that irritating person answering ALL of the emails! For I shall not be back in the office for two weeks.
So speaking of game shows, Let's Make a Deal is the most sadistic thing ever, right?

YLMV--I didn't get the job, did I?
isn't anyone needing a new pet? I feel like looking for pets for people today. (I am not allowed another pet, McPhee says she will quit if I get another> PLus my 2 old man cats are both getting to be more work with more vomitting and messier/less accurate bathroom breaks, plus the diabetes).
To get things started, I will continue my quest for Tom Scola to get a Dog.

I might die from happiness if Scola had a dog named Anna Wintour.
It recently occurred to me that my new landlord (aka mom) might not let me have a pet ever. Bummer.
