If the doctor's name were Apple Martin, I would totally pick that person. (I mean, if it were 15 years from now, and it could be that Apple Martin.)
Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I got a rec from my dermatologist (who was a rec from a friend). That person wasn't taking new patients so the receptionist wanted to send me to their website to choose someone else. Which, what am I supposed to glean from that? It took a while to get through to her that I was not doing that and to please just make me a damn appointment with whoever IS taking new patients.
As it turns out, that person is great and I really like him.

How about if they were called Apple Martini?
Apple Martini, probably no.
Dr. Apple Martini, from a reputable med school? Hell, yeah. I'd figure she had idiot parents, but was tough as nails to power through school with that moniker, and stubborn as hell to boot, to not use her initials.
I look at med school and year of graduation, paired with nearness to my home and if they take my insurance. I generally prefer female GPs and GYNs, but don't care about gender in psychs and therapists, only specialties and the vibe I get on the 1st visit.
Choosing doctors, what a concept!
I have to stop myself from referring to my PCP and my dentist by their first names, but then I've been going to both for years and years.
My therapist has the perfect romance author name: Cassandra October.
My parents totally call their dentist by his first name (Danny, in case it's the same one!).
I haven't been to the doctor in too long. And now I'm going to wait until I live closer to a center, instead of going back to Francine by my old house.
I used to refer to my dentist by first name because I went to a father and son practice so they were both Dr. Samelastname and when you made an appt the receptionist would ask if you were seeing Carlos or Juan.
Hey, I have a dental plan that I should totally use. Hm.
Thanks, you guys. I'll pass the messages on. And yeah, Ellison. And his databases. Ergh.
