Now, I can hold a note for a long time...actually I can hold a note forever. But eventually that's just noise. It's the change we're listening for. The note coming after, and the one after that. That's what makes it music.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Go, Amy!

I did not get the call from MacArthur. But my mom called and she may get to go home from the hospital today. She sounded strong and pragmatic. Very mom like.

I have started to love baking and bought my first stand mixer--not a Kitchen Aid, sadly.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I just went through the whole list, and realized I was afraid I would see someone I know! What is wrong with me.

HAHAHAH! I read the list each year and think, "I SUCK."

Except, I too was remarkably unimpressed with Karen Russell. I've even tried her most recent and abandoned it. Lots of verbal fireworks, but nothing substantial. I think the Macarthur folks got it wrong.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Amy's got the skillz and demeanour to sell herself in this interview. I know this.

A co-worker had an epiphany about me because she realised a) I grew up with live in help as often as not b) the family considered it ironic when said live-in help was white Swedish. Today she's only speaking to me through my assistant cube-mate (he's my assistant because he filled my carafe with iced water--he's cool). She explains this is how Stallone and Kirstie Alley do it when contractors come to the house, even when everyone's in the same room.

Speaking of segues, I watched my first few minutes of The Voice this morning. Will the J'can chick be on every ep until she's eliminated, or will there be a while before she comes back? I don't know how this works. I am beginning to see more about my sister's Maroon 5 crush, and I'm sure how he talked about reggae hurt nothing.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

The Voice: They have a few weeks of the first round auditions, so she won't be back for a bit.

Because books.

Done! I think it went well! I think.

Great, Amy! I know you can do yourself justice, and that there's justice to be done.

Thanks for the info, Jesse. I realised I had no idea what differentiated this show in any way from the five minutes I've seen of Idol. Jamaica was so excited that she got on. I didn't even know it was this soon--I only log onto FB to send messages to, like, five people whose email addresses I don't use, and that video, along with a couple birth announcements caught my eye.

Because books.

Adam Levine is divine. And an asshole, I hear, but god, he's hot. The Jamaican girl was great!

I'm already at that point where I'm telling myself if it doesn't work out, the world won't end, but man, do I want this.
