Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Until ten minutes ago, I had no idea that there was any connotation to the word "spade" outside of gardening, playing cards, or misspelled veterinary procedures. On the other hand, I was also unaware of the fig and trough origins. Knowing now that there was quite likely an earthy double entendre in that, I may amuse myself by adopting that.

'm a smartass. So occasionally I will say: "let's call a diamond, a diamond."

Hah, I'd be more likely to go with club, for the same bash-over-head properties as a spade(shovel). :)

I want to ask more questions, but I don't know this person well enough to pry to this degree.

Wait, I lost track--is this a wedding someone you know attended? Or her own wedding? Or she just knows the groomsmen? I don't think I could stop myself from prying. Dang.

About the plane tickets for the groomsmen, that might be considered a conditional gift. So depending on state law, it might be recoverable.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

this is a woman whose brother was the groom.

if I knew the bride or the groom I would pry. And extend my apologies for prying. and pry some more.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

So, I've been sick since last Sunday, spent most of last week out of work flat on my back napping lots. Mostly just chest congestion. Today, back at work, was the first day I spent all day at work and also the first day I spent most of it nauseous (but with less hacking coughs). Is that just because I'm upright and the mucus is settling in my lungs, or did I just get afflicted with something new? I had zero nauseau except when taking too many vitamins at once on an empty stomach in the week prior, and now I'm raiding my directors candied ginger stash (and subsequently craving sushi).

Too much consumed snot makes me queasy. And being upright means it is more likely end up in my digestive tract than when prone.

The cats are wild tonight. It sounds like a herd of goats thundering in a circuit on the second floor and then down the stairs.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Sushi craving used to be a migraine pre-cursor for me. Back when there was more pre- time. Now, not having a bad one one is all the indication I get.

God Italian Job is mesmerising. I love that magic cast. Also, heists. Negates the Wahlberg. I saw this with LAistas, I remember--at Mann's Chinese, and the movie uses a location next door. Weird sensation (see also Crazy Something Love and Gross Pointe Blank).

Can you have lunch lactose intolerant? I'm trying to work out what at lunch makes me coughy and phlegmy. It's not the pasta, not the seafood, but I had fucking whipped cream with breakfast, and I was fine and uncongested.

I have all the snot answers tonight! I've had the phlegm rebound effect from particularly rich dairy. Usually doesn't kick into full effect until a couplethree hours later. Greek yogurt will do it to me.
