Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

As I expected, contacting the Classroom Hotline about the too-hot classroom did nothing at all. It was marginally cooler today, though I'm not sure why -- they didn't bring in a fan or anything. We propped the doors open, which may have helped some, since the hallway is air conditioned. Still way too hot, but I was at least able to get through a whole lecture.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

My weekend? Writing. Maybe unearthing the floor in front of one of the wardrobes. If I'm *really* lucky, hitting a couple of thrift stores.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

My weekend, going to the movie, laundry, cleaning house. Gardening after dark, when it cools off.

I work tomorrow, am hosting a birthday party with 8-10 children in my tiny house on Sunday, and am doing as little as possible on Monday.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Aside from Home Depot, I want to go to the beach or the movies, depending on the weather.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Today was part of my weekend. I had my car battery replaced--the first time in 24 years of car ownership that I did so before it died on me. I took a bunch of cardboard to recycling and dealt with some old, busted blinds that I've been meaning to throw out for months. Tomorrow I'm seeing World's End with amyth and, I hope, getting my bike rideable again (pump up tires, clean off cobwebs, etc.).

What's the best way to get from NJ to LI? I know to avoid Staten Island like the plague due to construction. Is it easier/better/cheaper to head north over Manhatten and cross over on the Throg's, or straight through midtown? I know my GPS will force me through the Holland Tunnel, which is hellish only because I lose signal in the tunnel and I'm always at a loss waiting for it to come back as I'm immediately faced with a nightmare of a crossroads once out.

Otherwise I find driving through NYC quite fun after that disorientation.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

What's the best way to get from NJ to LI?

Trains.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Working. The project that's taking up most of my time scheduled two big simultaneous deadlines next week, and then the client piddled around and wasted the first two days we should have had to work toward them before releasing needed info to us. If thoughts alone could kill, the responsible party would spontaneously combust when she opens the first file I release.

Sitting out on the cedar screen porch, listening to the desert birds of paradise trees shoot off their seeds. They kinda sting if they hit you.
