Timelies all!
Heading to WorldCon tomorrow after work. Need to pack.(Not that difficult a task, as it's mainly deciding which t-shirts, and which earrings, to bring.)

Jesse -- My moving experience with Gentle Giant was extremely pleasant, at least as much as moving is going to get. They figured out ways to get stuff in and out really efficiently (like handing boxes over the side of the stoop railing instead of carrying them down to the ground and then up the steps) and did a couple things like above & beyond, like setting up the bedframes and mattresses. They're pricey, but worth the cost for the careful service.
OTOH, you can always get the local company called Death Wish Piano Movers, just because their name is so neat.
You know what? When I got quotes last time, Gentle Giant was right in line -- because they actually included everything in their estimate, and the actual price was what they had estimated. Will use them again! I'll save some money on parking permits this time, at least.
heh ... I passed a Gentle Giant moving truck this morning and wondered about them.
Then I had to dodge the motorcycle ON THE SIDEWALK! and thought about other things.
Death Wish Piano Movers. I love it.
Their trucks are matte black with gold lettering of just the name and business number. They've been in business since at least the 90s, and are actually quite well-respected for moving tricky things.
Make that 1971!
I'll throw out shoutout to Marathon Movers. They did an amazing job on getting my stuff out of Salem. Plus they are doing my storage. And the cost was less than less than the estimate. We'll find out how it all went when I get my stuff out of storage, but they did a great job and were fun to hang with given the situation.
I think I used Gentle Giant when I moved from DC to PA, and I was happy with them.
Grr! Getting used to texting issues.
