A successful trap-neuter-release program in my neighborhood reduced the stray cat population drastically. This summer there have been more songbirds and butterflies and little wildlife like skinks than I've seen here before. It's nice. And no mice, because I have three cats indoors and there are still a couple ferals moseying around outside.

Meeting another deadline, but a belated thanks Trudy. Anyone who liked the Wendy's video, can you please link on Facebook, twitter and other social media? It is hard to find a way to be funny about an issue as serious as this, and humor can reach people a more straightforward approach won't.
Our cats produced three dead mice over a single weekend just recently. First mice seen in the house in years, so I'm confident that a mouse invasion was stopped dead in its tracks, so to speak.
I still miss Butchy, the next door neighbor's outdoor tomcat, who would leave "offerings" on our doorstep in the hope that somebody would finally appreciate what a splendid hunter he was.
If Butchy knew your cats and one of them is female he might have been hoping to specifically impress her on the grounds that she might one day decide to have his kittens.
Sammie got a few mice back in the day from a very handsome tom.
So...the fact that I haven't heard anything from the utility company about the fact that I haven't paid my gas bill in months means they didn't like report it to credit bureaus or anything, right? I set up auto-pay, but apparently only for the electric bill.
They send you separate bills? Weird.
Yeah, it's weird -- when I got them in the mail, they were separate sheets in the same envelope and I had to mail separate checks.
I had never switched over gas to my name when I bought my co-op in JH, I thought it was part of another bill. 5 YEAR LATER I get a notice of termination and a huge bill. A bit of a mess, not at all helped by the fact that the gas company had been bought out in the interim, so records were a mess. I would follow up.
Yeah. Do you have a balance for the gas payments you've missed? If it's doable, I would just contact them and tell them you'll pay it in X installments, unless it's small enough to pay all at once.
Oh, I just paid it! $70 bucks for however many months. It's literally just my cooking gas.
Edit: And fixed the auto-pay, obviously.
