Xander: I still don't get why we came here to get info about a killer snot monster. Giles: Because it's a killer snot monster from outer space. I did not say that.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I technically need to talk to my parents about stuff, but I am not calling them today, because it is my birthday, by god, and they should be calling me. We have apparently reached that point in time where children get grumpy at their parents for doing all of the important communication through Facebook.

Because books.

Sara's officially done with fifth grade, and we just got back from the class graduation party, which was lovely and fairly lavish, and required a whole lot of socializing for three hours straight.

I'm strangely sad, and very exhausted.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Transitions are hard! As are parties.

I just went to the local government meeting for, as it turns out, not my neighborhood, but it was in the elementary school I went to! And was mostly about city-wide issues, so no issue being at the "wrong" one. I should have known that most of the questions and issues would be about the new garbage cans the city is distributing.....

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

My mother just started a flame war on the town group on Facebook.

My parents called, so they are forgiven.

My parents would also probably start a flame war over Republicans, but it wouldn't be an accident.

Punishingly Intricate

That sucks about the job, ita. I know it's a long shot but my company is hiring for people with your title, and I know there are some positions were working remotely is a possibility. Just in case you're interested (or anyone else for that matter):

Tonight's kitten and dog interaction went well. Dog being good. Brave kitten was brave and and shy kitten was shy.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Hooray for successful interaction! Cross-species and amongst humans.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

ita, sincerest sympathy.

I went to a JavaScript meetup, but I felt too intimidated to actually do any meeting. It didn't help that I only understood about half of the one presentation.

hip deep in pie

Gah! I think I've lost my work ID and key. I thought it was home for the last few days because I discovered Oz peed on my bag on Monday and hastily had to switch bags. But now I cannot find it here at home.

It probably wouldn't be a big deal if the office manager who controls these things wasn't such a tyrant. But I probably will never hear the end of this, and I don't know if they'll give me a key back, even though I am a fire warden.

ita, I'm so damn sorry about the job. That's a a lot of shit.

There's a correlation between how little I sleep (regardless of whether I feel tired or not) and how slow I swim. Pretty sure there is a causation in there too. Oof.
