'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

A couple years ago I was walking by the MIT theatre and noticed what I thought at first was someone walking a really UGLY black dog... until I got closer and saw it was a black sheep. It was grazing between performances with a stagehand/shepherd to look after it. One of the best double-takes of my life....

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yup, I feel bad enough to cancel my hair appointment. Definitely not going to try to swim today. I might try going for a walk after I rest up for a while, but I might just skip that, too. Warned my boss I might not be in tomorrow if I still feel like this.

My next-door cube neighbor was sick over the weekend so I'm blaming her.

Good thing I have plenty of Jell-o in the fridge!

I'm suddenly recalling that side effects of all the vaccines I've been getting may possibly be contributing to me feeling crappy. Maaaaybe I can be kinder to myself for a little bit.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I vote be kinder to yourself regardless!

Definitely!!

I am home again, whew. I would've liked to do a bunch of hiking and see cool stuff, but I basically seem to have sprained my ankle at the start of the race on Sunday and then run the race (and also got a really gross blister by the end). So I was/am hobbling around really pathetically and we did not do any more hiking in our remaining two days in the park (and left earlier than we might've). I'm hoping the ankle will feel better soon and I didn't actually do damage. No idea, I've only done something to my ankle once (and not even sure if it was this one)--that was better in a couple days. Though yesterday I ended up walking 9900 steps, according to fitbit, which is...not really taking it easy. Today I'm only at 5500.

I was very disconcerted by the pig legs, thinking at first that Sophia was going to eat them.

Oh no, meara! I hope your ankle heals up quick.

Also pro-self-kindness in general.

Also also, the Tony Starkification of Colbert definitely works for me.

My officemate believes in homeopathic medicine. And she's aware that there's nothing actually in them, but she says that "the memory of the chemical is there." She has a doctorate in electrical engineering! I think I give up on people.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

But not in chemistry, apparently.
