Unrelatedly, I was thinking about an animal sort of like the spotted hyena where the female has a phallus (faux-penis?) which she would then insert into a sperm sac of the male and suck sperm into her reproductive system. I've been told this [link] is close, but how much would change societally if women penetrated while still incubating and giving birth?

I just sent off my passport for renewal. Even though I haven't used it as much as I'd like, I've loved having it on hand, knowing that if work wanted to send me to one of our field offices I'd be good to go.
ita, I'm sure you could draw something beautiful enough for your mother, and not just because she's your mother.
I'm thinking of giving CJ a passport for his 18th birthday. Right of passage kind of thing. Is that totally dorky?
That's a super sweet idea! Especially because there actually aren't all that many things that change when you turn 18.
Saw my dad, sold (and bought) some books, got a haircut, am now exhausted. I think it's because the haircut was so relaxing. So I'm watching Drumline for naptime.
Calli - that is why I want to get a new passport. Just in case. Which is what got me thinking about one for CJ. K-Bug had one but I bet it has expired...hers was a kid passport and I think those are only good for 5 years.
I have NO plans this weekend, just kicking around alone for the three days. Today I'm working on fundraising stuff for the search and rescue team. Tomorrow I'm trying to plan brunch with K. Beyond that? I should be cleaning up the house but I'm full of meh. At least the dishwasher is running?
I think it's a great gift, Suzi. Full of possibility.
I turned on the TV and Rocky II was on, and I'm charmed by how sweet it is. I haven't seen this movie in years and years.
I've had my car a year and a day, and I just broke 3000 miles! And the first 30 weren't me.
Eat some dinner, do my nails.
I miss those mileage days... I still don't drive nearly as much as I did growing up. Closer to 8k than 40k. But the years of annual oil changing were sweet.
I have unread books but all I want to do is reread things. I'm scanning my shelves for likely candidates. I have a half read book and two unread ones Right Here. But my brain is uninterested.
I realized half the reason I haven't gotten a new library card since I moved in December is that most of the time, I can only deal with re-reading, so I'm not needing new stuff the way I usually do.
Oh, I am so glad to hear someone else say that. I have new books--stacks of them. And I keep reaching for the familiars. I don't seem to track well enough to retain new material when I'm tired. I can't believe how much new stuff I used to devour.
